I got 30.5's -- does that count? I'm getting similar gas mileage. Love the look of my tires, so I'll keep them that size, but anything larger is out of the question.

You guys just sold me on not going to 31s without having everything in hand for a re-gear.

29's (235/75) are as far as I'll go. Stock rims, suspension no rubbing, no regear needed.

Gone over the Top for a 5-lug..
I'm running 29.3" on my 5-speed manual. Final drive ratio with the stock 215/70R15 works out to 3.307:1 gearing. Up-sizing, it drops it to an uncorrected effective 3.03:1. To correct, for this small up-size would require 3.61 gearing. In effect, to correct just the conservative up-size from 26.9" OEM to 29.3" 225/75R16's that i have, would require taking the 3.58:1 axle from a 5-lug auto transmission version, and putting it in mine.

In up-sizing, you are also adding to the issue, with the weight increase of larger tires and/or rims, to a small degree.

I've been running my tire/rim setup for 2 years - it has advantages and disadvantages. The good - i drive mostly highway (80%?) and once i get up to speed, i am turning lower revs, and holding them for better gas mileage. The bad - i know i am going to be in for an early clutch replacement. I am an aggressively accelerating driver by nature - my other car is a motorcycle. With uncorrected gearing at present, on acceleration away from first - the truck has an effective 0-10km/h acceleration dead-zone that sometimes requires a bit more of revs and clutch slippage than is ideal. If i am being exceptionally lazy, inattentive, or careless with the pedal-work, it'll sometimes cough and stall out, pulling away from a stop... embarrassing...

29.3" is seriously the maximal i'll go for, without a re-geared setup on the bench and ready to go. I know the latest 5-lug thing seems to be going as large as possible, but there is a cost involved, in all ways.

Know your tires, know your gears. There is a relationship.

Yeah I like the look, but I think ill be trading in these 31s for 235s in another 10k miles. I don't drive to hard or push my trucks limits by any means. I baby the hell out of my truck, but having larger tires does add some more pedal to the medal just to get up hills, that's about it plus the gas mileage, but that's part of the deal with the bigger tires I knew that coming in. I love my truck, but I will most likely be downsizing to the 235s, getting a re-gear is just not a good option for me if I ever plan on selling my baby, because its a two door, and if me the girlfriend ever plan on expanding in numbers I might have to sell it :(. On the plus I most likely will buy a double cab :) . I baby my truck, but even having the bigger tires I gotta slowly push it around 2.3k rpm just to get up those hills, but I have never been past 3k rpm lol I drive slow as fuge. Maybe ill sell these 31 tires to one of the 5 luggers in socal if they want them cheap with around 10- or 15k miles on them haha.

33s. Stock gearing. Bitch is slow AF, but I still love it to death. Saving up for 4.56 and a regear.
