I dropped my truck off this morning to get the front diff needle bearing TSB performed. The dealer called me a few minutes ago and said they are unable to find the tool to remove the bearing and a new tool would not be in until May 16th!!! Should I press them to provide me with a rental until then? I really don't like driving with the vibration, and fear that if I drove it until May 16th, that I might scar my CV shaft. I'm still under warranty, so trying to hold off on the ECGS install. Thoughts on where I should go from here??

I don't think so. There has never been a catastrophic failed because of that berring. I think you are being too demanding.

Go to another dealership. That's unacceptable. You'll be fine on the drive there.

Yeah, I'm not worried so much about getting stranded by it, I just don't want to tear up my CV shaft. If I do drive it until the 16th, and it scars the CV axle, who eats the replacement costs?

It's already gonna be scarred if there is any damage.

That's what I'm afraid of... man it's tempting just to say screw it, and do the ECGS bushing now.

Would Toyota warranty that, since the faulty bearing is what caused the issue?

I was kinda wondering why you weren't. The dealer is just gonna put in the same part that's gonna do the same thing.

    Yes
the cv stub does not get scarred in my experience, it is twice as hard as the needle bearings and tears up the needles. if you are going through the trouble of that tsb replacing it with another OE needle bearing is foolish though to be honest...the same shit is going to happen again unless you replace the OE bearing with the ECGS bushing.

Well, ECGS bushing it is then. I've already got the bushing, just waiting on the removal tool to get here.
