Currently have Fox 2.5 IFP coilovers Non-Res with the factory 13" 600# Eibach coils. I have just a tad over 2.5" of thread showing on both driver/passenger side. My center hub to fender measures: 22.5" driver & 23" passenger. I have 1) 105lb plate bumper 2) 90lbs of skid plates 3) 90lbs of rock sliders 4) Going to add a 65lb winch which will be 350lb of extra weight before I hop in there.(an additional 190lbs)

I want to add 14" 700# Eibach coils to lessen the amount of preload but maintain my current lift. For those running the 14" 700# coils, how much preload are you guys running? I currently use a punch and a bunch of WD-40 to adjust my collar, it's fairly easy to adjust but would going with the longer and heavier coil make this a more difficult process?

Here is a picture of my preload:

*Blue tape measures where the factory preload was.
*I did crank back up 4 threads after this picture was taken. Both sides measure 2.5" of thread.

Go to the 700# coils but make sure you get the 14inch ones. Then you get to take off a lot of threads

I had the same shocks, and I put 700# coils. I forget the length, but I was happy with the ride. Check my build thread.

I am running a similar set up. I have, plate bumper, full set of skids, winch (with rope not wire), and sliders. I am running ADS 2.5 shocks and the 14"700# coils. They are still being broken in so they are still a little stiff but when I go to full compression with my 315 tires, I do not have any rub. One of the guys I was riding with was running 650# coils and was rubbing all over the place. The ride will not be as plush with the 700# coils vs. 650# Either option will work. I've hear opinions both ways.

What does spring rate have to do with rubbing?

It actually does, with the heaver spring rate the tire does not have as much up travel and the truck does not weigh enough to compress the 700# springs far enough for the tire to rub to top of my wheel wells.Where with the 650# coils, they compress further and the tire will come up and rub the top of the wheel well. Givin I am runnin 315/70/17's. If you are running a 285, you might not have rubbing issues with either the 700# coil or 650#. Like I said, it comes down to personal preference.

So you are running heavier springs to limit travel? Why not just space the bumpstop?

Unless your 700# spring is coil binding (very bad), the amount of wheel travel is the same between a 650# spring and a 700# spring. The bump stop on the LCA is the uptravel limiter, not the shock. The wheel will travel to the same exact spot on full compression regardless of spring rate.

Lets buy expensive shocks and then reduce my wheel travel...

Yup, the tire will have the same up travel with 700's as with 600's.

I had 700# springs, and I rubbed the top of the inner fender pretty hard with fox extended travel coilovers and 285s.
Check the first post of my build thread for video.

A higher spring rate should be used only if you have excessive preload, leading to coil bind, because the vehicles weight is exceeding the spring's capacity. It's not to limit suspension travel.

Why in the holy hell would you rub at the top of the wheel well? How are you even compressing that far? The place people rub is at the back of the wheel well, mainly the cab mount. Shocks and lift and spring rate have nothing to do with that

No CMC, and not rubbing the cab mount. Just rubbing on everything else

My tires rub the top of the wheel well a little also. And on that same trail on your video.
