Had a couple of kids drive by me a couple of times starring at me last time I was there.
Got the AR out and emptied a thirty round clip.
They left the area. I now go to the Del Norte Gun Club.

We went near Alamogordo. Camped out on a ridge and didn't hear anything. Saw some hogs though. Gone hunting for them in Utah and Colorado. Seems as though they are as smart here as they are there lol

So went and tried my luck turkey hunting down in the Gila near the Black Range. Heard them on Saturday morning but could not call them in. Tried again on Sunday morning and no sounds at all.

Since season closes May 10th I still want to go out a couple more times but do not want to drive the 5.5 hours down to where we were. Anyone know how well the Manzanos or Jemez mnts are?

Have seen turkeys on forest road 378 just past Fenton Lake. They come down for water.
They are in the mountains, just don't know where you can hunt.

Dude where we were seemed like perfect turkey country, we could imagine them struttin all over. So after playing with them on Saturday morning we thought we'd get some for sure on Sunday, but wtf we heard one gobble at 6:10 am then nothing after that! Probably did 20 miles of hiking over 3 days looking for them but nothing.
Yeah heard the same about the Manzanos but my friend told me a spot to check out that I am tempted to go look but still is probably well known.

Yeah I saw feathers by a tank but like someone plucked one right next to it. Probably from opening weekend. I know our turkey hunting is different than eastern turkey hunting as that you have to hike around more but it's hard hiking around without knowing a direction

    that is true.
I'm hoping I can go out again since I have so much money into it already but then again maybe that means I shouldn't put anymore into it.
Did you get drawn for either? I didn't put in so hopefully get an over the counter one.

Oh I see! Yeah I'm hoping to help some people during their hunts, good way to get some meats!

Tough thing about sandias is you can only use a bow, lol I want some kind of chance.

Didn't get into the schools I wanted so starting my fisheries job again here soon. I'm unsure bout the grad school thing now. Probably apply to be a game warden up north, stay with that and if I don't like it, apply to a biologist job. Just want a permainate job already haha

hey guys, I'm trying to convince my BFF to bring her taco over here to NM (from Cali) and go overlanding with me. But I then realized I have no fucking clue where any good spots are? Jemez Falls Campgrounds? lmao... I don't want campgrounds... I want wilderness and some offroading ? Anyone have any good suggestions?

When are you planning the offroading? Was up highway 4 over the weekend. Lots of snow that means deep mud now.
