Hey guys so I installed my 3157 switch back leds from super bright leds. I added a proper connector into the factory socket with the other end tied into the side marker running light. If I turn the bulb one direction the turn signals work fine but no day time. If I flip the bulb I get day time but no turn signal. It's wired the way I believe it should be. The truck has led inside and out front to back besides the hids at the headlights. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone please help.

did you get the standard 3157 or the 3157CK? 01+ need 3157CK as the ground is shared on one side. LED are polarity sensitive.

Is the socket your plugging into with 2 wires or 3?

If it's with 2 wires then it may never work properly. At least I couldn't get my (3157CK) daytime running / turn signals to work. I either got White solid and flash or Amber solid and flash. The only way I solved the problem and got the bulbs to work properly was to upgrade to VLED's
switchbacks which compensate for the 2 wire Toyota harness. The're not cheap but great quality all plug and play. Even the resistors to stop hyper flash.

the switchback is designed to work with a 3-wire system. otherwise it would never work regardless. You need one for the "white" and one for the "amber" and one "ground" unless you have an adapter that came with the tritons. coincidentally @TRD-ED your model has 3 wires due to it being the running light and turn signal.

If you're referring to my late model (2012). My running / turn signals lights have a 2 wire harness.
The Triton's or similar were the only way too overcome this.

OK, had to find the video as I haven't looked at my brother's '13 in awhile.

the "running" light is on the outside and "turn signal" is on the inside, right? turn signal is off unless used?

also welcome to the 1st Gen section :)

Hey guys! Wow what an awesome response. So after doing some research I found out that I bought bulbs that weren't ck. I fixed the problem by rewriting the bulb to Ck configuration and now they work like a charm! So sick. Thank you for the help guys !

Cool. Can you give an example of how you now have this light wired? Wiring diagram?

Attached are a few pics of how I did the wiring. The colors of the ink don't match the colors of the wire. The wiring is pretty straight forward the only thing I did that I haven't seen others do is use the actually crimp connector that goes into the factory connector. Others have just shoved a wire in there and it worked but since I have the tools I figured it would be the better way to go. The hard part was requiring the bulb itself. I used a thread I found on tw to do it. Just google tw how to rewire 3157 non Ck to Ck. I attached a pic for reference.
Everything is ran through the factory wiring loom so it looks factory. You could never tell it wasn't there before.

the plug is already 3-wire capable, it's just missing the 3rd wire for the other filament. this is what you have to add and tap into your running light wire.

I used wires from a spare plug so it already had the rubber boot to keep elements out. also used a light harness so I could turn them off.
