I have tried to wax my black 2016. After a good wash and a nice even coat of wax the color does not look even. Some areas appear blacker than others. I was hoping for a nice even color with depth. Any tips? This is my first black vehicle.

Is it just an illusion? Do you have any pics to show the differences?

Some will advocate two coats of wax, 12-24 hours apart. Not to increase protection, but to ensure an even application and prevent "streaking". It sounds like you were mindful of even application.

On some colors and with some products, even with the best of intentions you still might see some variation in the results. Thickness, difference in the amount of time the wax was left on the surface, just a couple potential causes. More than likely this will even out after a wash or two. Or maybe just a week out in the elements.

If it's bugging you, you could do a good wipe-down with a high quality microfiber towel and some detail spray. Griots Speed Shine is nice stuff. So is Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer. This should "level" it out some.

What wax did you use?? Was it, by chance, Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba Plus? That's a hybrid wax and I've struggled with streaking on darker colors. I'm curious as to what you used.

I can look again. It has rained here so I cannot apply a second coat to see if it will even out.
