I have been doing a lot of research and excited to get a Tacoma when my current lease is up and a salesman at the dealership told me to join this forum-

A couple quick questions- I don't plan on doing much off road and wondered your opinions if it makes sense to spend more for the 4x4 package- some say the resale may be better but isn't it all relative? Also what are opinions or differences of getting an SR5 or a TRD RWD - can you save a lot by getting the SR5 and doing some mods as you go? Do TRD's have better realse or is that all relative too?

    thanks for any advice!

As far as 4x4 goes that depends on your driving plans. I live in Georgia so we very rarely get snow. When it does snow I stay home out of all the other idiots way that are out trying to drive. What kind of off road are you planning?

You get some nice seats and other upgrades with a TRD package.

I live in Phx area- so probably 99% of the time driving on hwys and nice roads- but "think" I will do some minor off roading or may go up to snow in Flagstaff a couple times a year but that's prob it = thanks!

it really all depends on how much money you are willing to spend also, if MPGs are important and economy then get a 4 cylinder it gets the job done and can still haul material in the bed. if you tow or live in mountains then a v6 would be better. if money is no object get the top of the line model.

just a thought: you live in phx, give consideration to the tow package with the coolers to help with heat especially if you haul or tow.

If you want a 6-Speed manual you need a TRD and 4x4

Is a lease really practical if you plan on doing mods?

If you purchase I wouldn't consider resale value from one model vs another, get the one that suits your needs.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Actually, If I recall correctly -- the V6 gets a better MPG EPA rating than the 4 -- but then of course it also costs more. Be sure to check out all the specs and buy what the truck that is best for you and your needs. There is some good advice to be had on this website--but also some BS. Good luck with your search!
