I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma with the 3.4L V6. My muffler has rusted through to the point where there's a hole in it and it's not acting as a muffler anymore. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on muffler options to look at and sounds clips if you have them. I am looking for a nice deep rumble, which I know is hard to get because it's a V6 and not a V8, but I would like a deeper rumble to the tone. Straight piping isn't option. I only want muffler suggestions. Thank you!

    Youtube has lots of videos.
I'd start there then if you find a few you like..
Comeback to tacomaworld to ask about specific ones.

I've heard mentions of Flowmaster Super 44's and have just finished watching some clips of those. It sounds great. I searched around for a video clip on my specific truck for Aero mufflers, specifically the 2525 and couldn't find anything. So if anyone has that muffler on their truck put some clips in this thread. And does anyone have experience with the Super 44's on my specific truck and engine? i.e. MPG change, throttle response, hp, etc.

I know that the Super 44's are advertised as being an aggressive muffler.

I'm not sure, but it's definitely not aggressive on the Tacoma's V6. Nice throaty sound.

I've also seen exhaust tips being bought with mufflers. What are the differences in exhaust tips and which size should I get? Any brand recommendations?

I've heard those are supposed to be their loudest and most aggressive muffler. How's the volume on that? Any clips as well?

I actually had my exhaust "dumped" over the axle because I didn't want the tip to bang around on a rock when off-roading.

Okay, sounds good. I'm in class as well so I can't really listen to clips now until later. Also since you're in the cab is it overbearingly loud? Any drone when you let off the throttle?

That makes sense. I do enjoy taking my truck off-road so I may look into that. I've heard that can cause it to be louder in the cab. Notice any difference?

It might make it "slightly" louder in the cab, but nothing crazy.

Any pics of the setup you have on the truck? Also, did you have a shop install it and if so how much did it cost you?

I don't have any pics but at 1:50 and 2:14 of my video above you can get some good shots of the setup.

i didn't dump mine because i didn't want any exhaust fumes to get into the cab or smog sticking under my frame, but on the freeway you can hear it a bit if your music is off
