My oem toyota bearings lasted all of 50k miles. For 90$ and as easy as they are to swap, I'd try it.

I would buy one, and carefully examine it and return it if it were as the unit Bamaboy bought I'd return it.

One also has to be careful to not over-grease sealed bearings (Google "overgreasing sealed bearings") and not second guess the manufacturers. Nearly all sealed bearings look like they do not have sufficient grease, however the truth is not all that much is needed and too much generates heat--never a good thing...

I have been dealing with cars and trucks for many, many years. And I know the correct amount needed. You may not agree with me, and that is your right to do so, but I think my product speaks for itself at well under .1% failure rate from a 1.5% failure rate when I wasn't inspecting and adding the appropriate grease to the bearings before assembly.

As long as you know the correct amount there is no problem--the problem is many do not and tend to follow the "if a little is good, then a lot must be better" philosophy. The saving grace is that automotive wheel bearings spin relatively slowly, 700 to maybe 1200 rpm (depends on tire size of course) at 70 to 75 mph--and that 100k miles at 50 mph is just 2000 hours of operation--less than 3 months if they were run 24/7 like a lot of industrial machinery.

We had some high speed twisters (12,000 to 20,000 rpm, 4" bearings) in a mill I ran years ago ("Whirlwind Twisters" they were called) that had to be rebuilt every 3000 hours or so--they were considered to be extremely high maintenance--it was their production capacity that kept them on the floor...

steelshield - YOU ROCK! Awesome post. Your kind post just saved me a ton o' dough because Firestone wanted $600 to replace one of mine just today. Thank you!

I purchased and installed these 2 front dorman assemblies last year and do not have any issues with the bearings. For the money I cannot complain. I agree they look like they don't have enough grease so I added some which I am now reading is bad lol oops hope it doesn't cause issues but ok so far
Either way after almost a year they are holding up fine
If you are on a low budget I say go for it.
If you willing to spend more, then bamatoy1977 is probably the best most convenient choice according to many on tw and that I know of that is pre assembled

Only reason I went with dorman was the shipping speed with Amazon prime. My taco is my DD and needed a fix fast. Low price was a bonus but yeh I figured may not last as long potentially who knows

I bought one of bamatoy's bearings in '13 and it's still going with close to if not more than 80k since it was installed.

For me i guess it would depend on if i plan on keeping the truck for a while. If i only want it for a year then id go cheap, otherwise i would soend the cash for bamatoys

I lost a wheel bearing on my 07 and decided to replace both sides with the Dormans they were great. I had zero issues with them and I didn't have to battle seating the new bearings. Took me me half a day to do both sides and that included replacing the CVs because my boots were going. I put about 60k on them after that before trading the truck. I'd order them again in a heartbeat.

Be advised, the part number listed by OP, 950-004, is fit the RWD version. Part # 950-001 is for the 4x4.

Hey guys, I have these PreRunner hub flanges in stock and will build them with the quality Koyo/Timken bearing for a fraction of what the OEM Toyota Prerunner hub assembly goes for. How does $185 for a Prerunner with Koyo Bearing sound?

    Guess I'm kind of confused.

Post #19 has the preliminary inspection, but in that post you would later disassemble it and verifying. So I take it that there was nothing new to report once disassembled?
