What type of dry lube do you use for your TCs and how often?

You can pick up some dry lube from any bike shop too. I try to put it on every few months. Or if it gets really dirty I'll have to power wash it then throw some on.

Wet lube will attract dirt obviously and can scratch the teflon, tis what I read and what TC recommended to me when I called em....was surprised and bummed Sd truck shop didnt know that.

How bad is it to offroad without a hitch receiver (as in if I remove the stock towing hitch)? Will the flex damage the frame? I'd assume the rest of the cross-members along the ladder frame will be enough to keep things together. The reason is primarily for clearance concerns.

I'm sure it will be fine. There are people that don't even have a hitch. But keep in mind recovery points. Or lack of them if you take the hitch off.

Anyone have a wheel place they go to or recommend? I normally go to discount tire but may check out another place. I am going to scratch the bike idea and just upgrade my truck haha.

you shouldn't have any issues if just moderately offroading, FWIW a frame can flex a little bit...don't want it too rigid I'd think...

Is twisting on some of the harder Moab trails considered moderate? Haha. I don't absolutely NEED the clearance but it would be nice..

Bronco Peak connector (dbl black diamond) & similiar trails are frame twisters...

That's fair and seems fine with me.

My main reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of cutting up my stock hitch receiver for both clearance in preparation for Moab in a few weeks and because eventually I'm going to have someone make a customer bumper welded to it that would get rid of the middle hanging part anyway. Below are the cuts I plan on making (the red lines). The green lines follow the thick tube that connects each side of the receiver and houses the receiver itself. The blue lines are a would-be platea of the top portion of the future bumper.

Yeah, that def. needs some trimming up, looks a little obtrusive...

@Spvrtan do you have time to have a shop cut the hitch off the mounting brackets, and weld a straight piece of metal in? It'll act as a brace but keep it high clearance. You'd still be able to unbolt it when you have your bumper built if you re-use the mounting brackets since you can unbolt and remove when that time comes.

I don't have time to go to a shop for welding work. I can cut it with my Sawzall myself and I figured I can temporarily bolt in a thick 1/4" plate on OEM holes at the top of the receiver to somewhat hold it together.
