    Gents, I need a little advice/assistance. I'm finally getting around to putting in Bilstein 5100s rear this evening (yesterday evening now) and my and my buddy putting them in have had a problem putting this top nut back on. So it is turning, but not going anywhere, its not tightening. Too small and too dark to see now, but I did get these photos.
    Is there something I'm just not aware of or is the bolt stripped and not going to thread???

    Look at the top of that shaft, there is a hex head. Grab a hex key to hold it while you spin the nut

    Got them both installed, 2 broke lug nut bolts repaired, and everything back where it is suppose to go today. Drove a few blocks and nothing fell apart. Thanks everyone, I had no knowledge of any kind of mechanics before joining this forum.

    Sorry I'm just seeing this but I like it for what it is. A cheap tube front bumper. With that being said don't plan on it being a super sturdy offroad bumper. The plate metal where it actually mounts to the frame is thin and I actually bent it out of shape while being pulled. luckily nothing major was bent or broken and it easily bent back into shape but just food for thought. For daily mall crawling it's great!

    I've been feeling kinda worried that with getting a Pre-Runner I won't be able to do much off roading. Not any heavy off roading like mudding or climbing big rocks but just some basic off roading. How much can I do with having the rear differential locker?

    You can do pretty good. I don't have a locker and do fine on easy trails to campsites I wanna get to or trail runs with other people. Just get some good tires, decent lift. Soon I'll be getting rock sliders for a better hi lift jacking point and added protection.

    With that said... If you haven't got a truck yet... Try to get a 4x4. I wish I did

    Just do what you can. Better than not doing anything.

    Maybe buy a winch?

    Question to the PR crew;

    How important are the front tires? If all the traction is coming from the rear (mine is locked), do the front tires matter as much?

    Basically, can I get away with putting KO2s on the back and something like Rugged Trails on the front? Would be cheaper and get better mpg. And perhaps it would act similarly off-road?

    Thoughts?

    From personal experience with my prerunner, id try to put the same tires/size all around so you can rotate them. With mine, i used to have 245s on the front and 265s on the back and i would only get about 50k miles out of the back set. The fronts would last well over 120k miles (this happened on two different sets)

    Edited to add: while getting going is based on the rear wheel's traction, keep in mind your front tires do most of your braking. Also something to consider

    And then just rotate the fronts back, and put new ones on the front?
