Great video of someone who fit 285/75r-16 on the Tacoma TRD Pro wheels. All he had to do was heat gun the wheel well plastic a tad. The TRD Pro wheels have a wider stance making these tires fit better. After molding the plastic a little, no rubbing at all! This tire size will most likely be the way I go.

This is not the Pro. It is a regular Tacoma with Pro wheels.

It doesn't matter. It's using the pro wheels. Backspacing is the key here. That's the important part here when talking about wheel fit. With IFS, we are limited to the same travel no matter how much lift we get. If you want a tire that doesn't rub at all at any point during travel, everything in that video is what you need in regards to information. Regardless if you have the stock TRD OR suspension or TRD Pro suspension (or any other 3rd party brand that simply replaces the coilovers), if the wheel is stuffed, it will experience the same rubbing.

    Make sense?

I love how people clown on the KO2's for "being bro" and "too popular" when they all drive a Tacoma which is the most popular mid truck and "bro" truck.

I couldn't find the measurements from hub/ground to fender on the pro. It's the same as all the others then, from what I gather? Which is? 35 inches from ground up?

Ok..Where to start with what's wrong with that video...
#1 he makes absolutely no mention of caster, caster is critical in fitting larger tires into Tacoma wheel wells.
#2 I don't know why more people don't understand this about tires but no 2 tires of the same size of different models are the same, even from the same manufacturer. Just because KO2s seem to fit well doesn't mean Cooper ST Maxx are going to fit without rubbing. I use the Maxx as an example explicitly because that tire is specced both slightly taller and wider than the KO2. The Maxx isn't much bigger, but when combined with other factors it starts to matter lot when stuffing a tire in a space not designed for it.
#3 suspension components also matter. shock manufacturers have different specs for their shocks and when combined with aftermarket bump stops will slightly alter a trucks up travel.

And I'm sure I'm missing even more things that influence rubbing, but I digress, all that kid did was show that on his specific truck with his specific suspension KO2s+pro wheels don't rub with driving up slight inclines. Nevermind on a steep downward slope locked and off camber or hauling ass through the desert over washed out roads.

I don't think he was implying that everyone who buys KO2's on pro wheels will have the same situation he does. What the video shows is what most people will probably have to do to fit these tires, without rubbing, on Pro wheels. I don't see anything wrong with this video. Point being, I don't think anyone here expects to push in their fender plastic the EXACT amount he did. We all expect to use a heat gun and push the plastic in enough to make it fit our particular application.

Anyone have any experience running Toyo or Nitto M/T on TRD Pro 16 " in suze 265/75R16?

It will give 1 inch and with bigger lugs, if will look good. Question is will it rub?

0047832D-57BB-4AD6-BFC5-8CC1C1303AD9.jpg Definitely no rubbing even while off-roading. I had toyo mt's 265/75/16 before I upgraded to 255/85/16. You will be fine.

265/75R16 is almost 32 inches. 255/85R16 is like 33 inches but too skinny. Did you do any modification to stock trd pro for both of them to fit.
Why did you dump 265/75R16 for 255/85R16? Just curious.

Look back at #53 post I put a size chart. 255's in the toyo mts are actually 33.5" so that's why I went with them for the extra clearance. I put 265's back on my 97 Tacoma. I do have aftermarket bumper so plenty of clearance on front. 265's there is no issue rubbing at all no modifications. The 255's how ever I still haven't taken it off-road and flexed suspension to see where to trim looks like just plastic though. And remember toyos run the tallest of the 255's everything else runs right at 33 or smaller.

Thank you for taking the time and answering my questions. I now can see your front bumper and that is why you can fit such large tires without much rubbing. I think the best compromise would be 265/75R16 which is close to 32".

Wouldn't it touch the upper control arm even with lift? 285 is 2cm wider means 1cm from each side. I looked at my stock 265 and it really has very little room before touching. might need spacer.

    1. The rims and off set make a huge difference too it's not just tire size that's why a lot of people use spacers
. All depends what your doing with your truck but 265 is a good tire size. Good luck let me know what you go with.

Sure I will. 265/75R16 is only 5% taller than what I have but with nubbier tires such as Toyo M/T or Nitto Trail Grappler might look better.

How are those Toyo M/T's ride quality to stock Goodyear Wranglers?

Since they are rated E and mts There stiffer and have a small howl when driving but not too annoying. Also psi makes big difference I run mine at 40-45. Anything above 45 ride gets stiffer.
