I would say go ahead and come. You can park in the parking lot and ride with someone. I'd offer my shotgun seat, but I don't think it's a good idea for anyone to be stuck in a truck with me if I'm still not up to par.

It's not terribly 2wd friendly even if you are locked, to be honest.

Haha. The problem is if I finish them in time it will be the day before the meet. The guys at ecgs were very adamant about a 500 mile break period with varying speeds and breaks in between to allow the Diff to cool. I don't wanna drive up there and break something by being rough on the trails

And I assure you this sucks because I love hard Rock. Wanted to go back since the last meet there.

Yeah, that's one thing I'm probably not going to be able to manage when I regear. I only put about 1k a year on the OGT and half of that is off-road. I wouldn't be able to wheel it for like a year if I waited until I completed a 500 mile break in. o_O

Nobody says you have to be rough with it though. Just stay away from the rock gardens. The hill climbs aren't all that hard on your diffs. Plus, unless you're gonna drive around on the street in 4WD (which would be harder on the diffs than wheeling--unless it's a 3rd Gen Taco or 3+ Gen T4R with a center diff type t-case) then you need to wheel it to break in the front diff.

I don't see why they need to broken anyways. They get heat treated when they are cast (or are gears forged?). Biggest thing is probably to change the fluid after 500 miles get the shavings out.

You're right on the front Diff I didn't consider that

Cool. You gonna have them on for Hardrock? ...only because I would imagine there's gonna be a lot of sheetmetal trimming to be done.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about the break in. I didn't follow it whatsoever on mine. I wheeled within probably 300 miles of initial install and didn't change fluid until after 4K miles or so. The fluids where clean front and rear, with very very little metal debris on the magnet. (The magnet only had that really fine sludge built up on it from the microscopic pieces of metal, which is usually normal with a fluid swap at any mileage).

Ok, thanks for the reply. I got through all the trials when I went with you guys to the citrus meet in 2016. Although those are relatively easy. Maybe I'll bring my camera and take some pics of you all going through the stuff I won't be able to.
