Dammit @Seabass, don't keep us in the dark as to where this mecca of hard cases is located! Some of us NEED this in our lives and you, sir, hold they key... Your brothers and sisters of TW await your superior knowledge to be disclosed.

They are here in downtown Phoenix. No website to shop on, but call them and they know exactly what they have. I'm not sure if they ship or not.

North face makes some nice stuff and my North Face Ski pants have held up great, but the prices are up there.

It looks like REI and Columbia have similar duffels, for almost half the price, so I may give those a shot.

One hell of a review, bravo zulu.

You must have a wide foot.
I tried looking to see if I could find any deals for you, but you're right doesn't seem to be any..
Might wanna buy you another pair tho, if you like them that much.

I don't think the blue looks as bad.

They do look like they'd be comfy. Kinda remind me of my Hoka running shoes.

You know, I used to have a normal width foot. But after going with a wide toe box and a zero drop heeled shoe, my foot spread out naturally like a foot would if we went around barefoot. It's actually healthier for the foot. I still have a nice strong arch in my foot, luckily.

I'm thinking that I'll keep wearing this same pair during my next 3 months of training, and if I wear them down too much, I'll get another pair right before my JMT hike and break them in a couple weeks before I go. I want to have max tread and cushion on that hike.

Makes sense. I have narrow feet. I've thought about doing something similar to build them, but on the same note, I have a lot of expensive boots.. So Probably wouldn't be a good idea if might feet were to spread out.

Been on a search for some new hiking/general outdoor boots lately so I took a short drive (15 minutes) up to the LL Bean Outlet store in Freeport, ME. Major score on a pair of Vasque Talus Trek Waterproof Hiking Boots and some assorted "irregular" socks (3 of each). 50% off everything.

I have the low cut Altra Lone Peak Neoshells but mine are just jokingly grey in color. Used them on three backpack trips in the Weminuche Wilderness last year and several day hikes..my favorite light shoes so far. I volunteer as a Wilderness information specialist in the Summer and they get a lot of use.

Looks FUN! I hate living in Ohio and only being able to get my ski fix once or twice a year if (I happen to make a business trip line up with ski season).

I think they just brought me along as van driver and interpreter. And I'd been there a few times

Just a bunch of old crap
I get to be kind of a neat freak when it comes to organizing my outdoor gear. Bins in the garage are now a way of the past. Since my son moved out last year, I got the green light to turn his old bedroom into my new gear room. I'm moving shelving systems from the garage up to this room and storing my best gear out of the awful AZ summertime garage temps that are just so hard on gear.

2 shelves installed, 2 more to go. Each shelf rack is 6' tall, 48" wide, 18" deep, and has 5 total shelves. They are steel with laminate shelf tops, and each rack can hold 1500 lbs. Next, I'm putting up a 2 row horizontal railing system with adjustable hooks so I can hang my packs on the wall and also hang up my good sleeping bags. More pics to come as that project comes along and I get more shelves put up. There's also a nicer futon on order and arriving in a week so I'll have a quiet place to sit and ponder gear selections while also providing a crash couch for visitors. A folding table for sorting gear for my next trip will be in here, too.

Anyways, I found this little score at the Container Store today. It's a rack meant for storing soup cans in your pantry. Well, it made for a great fuel canister rack on one of my shelves. There's room up top for even more of the smaller canisters but I think I have enough here to get me by.

    20170426_153121[1].jpg

I'm working on finding a way to organize my stoves, cook pots, and other small items. It's kind of a mess right now until I find a better way to make use of the vertical space between the main shelves. These little racks are ok, but not the final solution for these smaller items yet. They're great for the bigger truck camping pots and pans though.

    20170426_153133[1].jpg

Food is coming along for this season. I scored some really good recent sales on Mountain House (meh), and Backpacker's Pantry (better than meh) so I stocked up on some favorite flavors that I can actually tolerate. I also tried out a bunch of flavors of PackIt Gourmet meals, and they are absolutely fantastic. I went back and stocked up on their stuff because it tastes so much better than all of the other brands, and the textures are like real food. I've never seen freeze dried chicken rehydrate so fast and actually look and taste like real chicken instead of gravel. Their stuff is amazing. I also found a great trick to make OvaEasy scrambled eggs without a frying pan, too. No, and it's not with a Ziploc freezer bag.

    20170425_203515[1].jpg

    More pics to come.
