Jones and Kenseth may swap places. Byron or Bowman in the 88. Maybe Bowman in the 88 until Kaseys contract is up and Bowman to the 5 and Byron to the 88 or vice versa imo.

The boost in performance for Larson is 1) getting used to the car, and 2) the money man from Michael waltrip racing is now investing his money and engineering in the 42 team. KarlKeikhiven or something?

For every dollar I save for our house extension, I'll put a dollar in a jar towards a dirt kart.

I bet Larson is #1 pick for the 88 seat. He was suppose to get the 24,but Gordon decided to stick around a few more years. Which left Larson no choice.

I've been following NASCAR a long time. For years (back in the 60s) it was Goodyear and Firestone. Then Firestone dropped out and it was all Goodyear. I don't think McCreary ever raced in the top tiers of NASCAR? I know that Hoosier did back in the late 80s, when it was Petty, Earnhardt, Wallace, Neil Bonnet, Geoff Bodine, et.al.

Hoosier was better than Goodyear at some tracks, but were unable to provide enough tires for the whole field. There were actually races where cars started off on one brand and finished on another. If I recall carrectly, the Hoosier tire was slightly shorter, so changing brands effectively changed the final drive ratio.

The fear was, that as both companies went to softer and softer compounds, the tires wouldn't hold up. Ultimately, NASCAR required that all tire companies must be able to have enough tires for the entire field. Hossier, as a small company, simply couldn't afford it and dropped out.

I may have missed a few facts, but I'm out of country this week. When I get back to Texas I'll consult my big book of NASCAR facts and see how far off I am.

I figured! Am I going to finally be done with killing my Sundays?? I'll miss Saturday night races, so probably not.

Jeff Earnhardt can't drive to the mall without hitting a wall somewhere.

Catch up on my fishing! Oh and the rest of my Sundays for something more entertaining with less rules and b.s. Maybe Jr. is as annoyed by all the rule changes as I am.

Usually the brain damage comes before marriage. IDK, writing has been on the wall for about 3 years now. I remember him saying something about approaching his forties and getting too old for the sport.

I can't imagine how it'd go over in Hendrick meetings if Rick brought in someone from outside and elevated them above Bowman and Byron.

I'll be honest and say Byron needs at minimum another year in xfinity, with that said bowman may be an emotional pick but id like Sadler or allgaier in there for a 1 year contract with bowman at jr motorsports next year. Honestly there's 10 different ways this shit could go.

I think Nascar is in trouble. All the big names are gone except of course Johnson and lot's of people are tired of seeing them win so much. The cars are all the same, you can't offend anyone, rules change all the time. Another thing killing them is too much exposure on tv. I just can't excited about a kyle larson or matt dibendinito. And this new points system is nuts.

Yes, NASCAR is in trouble, but they're not the only industry suffering. We're going through a big cultural shift in how people are entertained. People would rather stay home. It's easier. Daily demands at work and home are more intense than they were 10-20-30 years ago. Commutes, job performance ratings, kids with after-school activities, home maintenance, side hustles. The dollar doesn't go as far as it used to. Regular people don't have time, money, or energy to attend multiple races anymore. Things change.

Jimmie Johnson is the natural culmination of the competition curve. He's a machine- much like Michael Schumacher in Formula 1.

"The cars are all the same" is the case in just about every racing series worldwide. The differences lie in what's beneath the sheet metal: suspension setups, camber, toe, and then the secret, grey area stuff each team does to their cars.

"Can't offend anyone?" You mean like when they punch each other and don't get fined?

Rules are always changing. Sports are always evolving. NASCAR just has more moving parts than stick & ball sports.

Yes, TV coverage is saturated. Been that way since the mid '90s when ESPN2 came out. I don't have cable, so it doesn't matter to me but, I don't think practice, qualifying, and the race should be televised for the top three series.

I find myself getting excited for Larson and other young guys because I've often seen them rise from Late Models to K&N series and up into the top 3 national touring series. Larson is an exception, as he was a West Coast open wheeler, but I was familiar with him since he was around 14. I love it when open wheel dirt guys successfully transition to stock cars. I still remember Steve Kinser's Cup debacle of 1995.

Interesting, as more sports are getting TV coverage and making money that way, the music is going more towards live performances to make their money less TV/recordings.

The ever changing world we survive in.
