I went out and just tested mine. Made sure the doors were unlocked. Opened the back door. Pressed the lock button on the fob. The tone went off for 5 seconds, then stopped. I closed the door. Nothing locked. Okay, try it one more time. Same result. Tried closing the door while the beeper was still making the sound (within 5 seconds). It still didn't lock. I'm at work so I don't have time to go into the menu to see if there's something that I need to change, but it looks like on mine it won't lock if you push the lock button and a door is open. I'd be willing to bet there's an option I have to activate or deactivate though. My truck is the 2016 OR.

Edit: I had a victim, er I mean vendor, that wanted to meet with me for lunch so I took the opportunity to play with this some more. I had it set to only unlock the driver side door. I switched it to unlock all four doors. No change. Apparently if you open the back door, the only way to lock the door is to push the lock button in the front door or push the button on the fob once all of the doors are closed. It still did the 5 second beep, went away, but it never locked the door when I close it. Sorry dude, you're either going to have to keep a finger available to push the fob or you're going to have to push the button in the front door to lock your doors (Or use the lock feature built into the driver's handle).

Nice. I'm just happy that my sr5 has a feature that the TRD models don't. =D

I can hit the lock button on my fob and then close the doors. Then the doors will lock and the beeper will sounds. TRD OR with prem&tech, but it's a manual transmission, so no proximity key.

I think you're right. I tried doing it and walking way and the door still didn't lock. It didn't matter if the beep was active when I closed the door and walked away or if I waited until the beep stopped after 5 seconds, then closed the door and walked away. With the auto and remote sensing key fob, there is no apparent way to lock the door short of pushing the lock on the front door or pushing the lock on the key fob AFTER all of the vehicle doors are closed.

Edit. I did one more check. You're going to have to open your driver door. Open the back door. Push the lock on the door panel, close the driver door. Then go around and pick up your arm load of goodies, then do your hip check, then when you close the door everything will lock up. No big deal, you've just got to push the lock button on your way out the door and remember to open back door before you close the driver door. Now if you have to open the passenger side of the vehicle, that'll suck a little more, but that's what you've got.

My pro does the same as yours, can't lock it with door open, my tundra is the same. I always thought it was a Toyota thing, as all our others vehicles work the opposite way. Can lock with door open, and set re-arm when you shut the door.

Try waving your hand near driver side door handle while thinking about it locking... clicking your heels 3 times couldn't hurt either!

I tried praising the dark one in the deep forest but it only unlocked the driver side. I will give 3 clicks a try.

I didn't see this anywhere, but if I jump in, start up and then hit the defrost button, the cooling/heating panel comes on, and the fan comes on at 1 dash and increases to full speed by its self. If the system is already on when I hit the defrost button... the fan stays where it was already set.

    Normal?

This is referring to the feature in which the headlights will activate upon the wipers being on. Nothing is stopping you from turning them on yourself. Toyota simply skimped on features while adding others like auto headlights based on the amount of light outside.

It's normal if Your using the Auto function. If you don't want that depress the auto button. What auto will do is bring up the temp to what you have it set at before the fan turns down. I don't like that mode.

That's not the case here. Auto is not on (not lit) and the entire cooling/heating system is off. The only button I touch is the defrost button (push button above the off button)
