Lake Superior Circle Tour

Planning a trip at the end of May for 9 days and roughly 2000 miles from Omaha Nebraska - around Lake Superior and back. Will be sleeping in our RTT and have all the necessary equipment to enjoy primitive camping (the more primitive the better). We (fiance and myself) have a rough plan on our daily mileage and locations to stay but would like some input on places to visit along the way. Would prefer to stay away from the main tourist attractions but we are really open for anything at this point. The schedule will be pretty aggressive in order to get all the way around the lake but we are young and should be able to manage

Truck for the task is a 2016 Tacoma 4x4 double cab. I had a 2002 Tacoma for 7 years that never left me stranded but needed 4 doors and upgraded last year. Will be outfitted with RTT, awning, Leer canopy, roof racks, dual isolated battery, and ARB fridge. Truck is other wise stock. Most of the roads we will travel on are paved so I'm not too concerned with massive amounts of recovery gear.

Friday 5/26: Omaha - Duluth (530 miles)
Saturday 5/27: Duluth - Thunder Bay (189 miles)
Sunday 5/28: Thunder Bay - Pukaskwa (200 miles)
Monday 5/29: no travel
Tuesday: 5/30: Pukaskwa - Gargantua (150 miles) <--- trying to travel gargantua road to the coastline and not sure if this is accessible?
Wednesday 5/31: Gargantua - Tahqua (165 miles)
Thursday 6/1: Tahqua - Munising (182 miles)
Friday 6/2: Munising - Copper Harbor (188 miles)
Saturday 6/3: Copper Harbor - Omaha (786 miles)
Sunday 6/4: Copper Harbor - Omaha (if needed)

now that I think of it have you got your 2017 Discovery Pass? free admission to all Parks Canada places

you could check out Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area, free admission into the Pukaskwa National Park

 

Do you need to print that out beforehand? I thought admission was just waived when you enter the park.
