2016 SR5 DCSB V6....made in TX 11/15. Window stick confirms that as it states: PORT/PLANT TMMTX-SAN ANTONIO. BTW, my VIN# starts with 5.

Basically, I figured Trump would "hit the ceiling" with Toyota expanding the Baja plant over the San Antonio plant.

Probably too much on his plate to worry about it. They're also moving Corolla production to Mexico I believe. My Canadian made one has been good, wish they'd open a plant in the US.

The Corolla is proudly built in the TMMMS plant in Blue Springs which is less than 7 years old. The plant was moved from CA to MS for tax and union reasons. I doubt they will shut it down to move production to mexico(for tax reasons).

@specter208 Just curious, how do you know that Texas DCs are hard to find? I honestly think it would just be a regional thing. Something like: Texas trucks would go to the South and East Coast, Mexican trucks go west.

Dunno, but the DC is probably the most popular model by more than a little and both plants would be pumping out as many as possible.

    Mine is a Texas truck.

The Corolla production is moving to MS to free up capacity to build more profitable Lexus RX vehicles.

which means moving the corolla to some place cheaper to produce. Its my understanding that there is less Union pressure in the south.

There is less Union pressure. Folks down here are just excited that those manufacturing jobs that pay well are finally making their way down here. They are generally proud to work for Nissan or Toyota.

I think the reason for the increase in production in mexican made Tacomas. Is to free up some production space in the Texas plant, so when Toyota finally updates the Tundra. They will have the capacity to produce more Tundras in the Texas plant. They moved Tacoma production there because the factory was underused.

I was surprised when one Service Department Manger told me to avoid Mexican made Tacoma's if possible. He didn't say why. Common sense tells me a $2.00 -$3.00 an hour Mexican auto worker building Japanese trucks in a third world country would be more prone to have quality issues compared to a truck made by Japanese auto workers in Japan.

They could move production to China ,increase the price and still sell 150 K units a year. They know the Tacoma buyer and know what they can get away with.

It is possible but machines are more consistent and as soon as they catch it they will go back and correct it. Someone posted up an article on the differences, the Mexican plant sounded shorthanded and they bounce people that are not trained for different parts of the truck. And they are spending money to add more automation there.

Maybe it was advertised wrong, if you go on Cars.com and do an advanced search and select Manual Trans every single one will be from Texas.

I've never seen a DCSB except for one Manual OR that was made in Texas on any of the Dealer lots or websites I've seen here in CA.
