I recently bought a 2nd gen axle for cheap with a burned up set of 4.56's in the third member. I have a couple questions about

    A. Will my driveshaft bolt right up to the flange on the 2nd gen third member? I've heard two different stories on that.

    B. Will an 8.4 third member from a first gen / first gen tundra / t100 fit my housing if I find one for cheap?

Lol what is it? I haven't done any research into gears (besides ratios like most people know).

That's just the carrier. Those gears inside of it are spider gears and have nothing to do with the ratio. The ring and pinion gears are what will determine the ratio. That doesn't have a ring gear on it. It would be bolted to those holes in that flange thing around the outside of the carrier.

Got it. Thank you for the information. Now just gotta figure out the flange question from someone that's tried this oddball thing I'm doing. Thanks again, I appreciate it.:thumbsup::cool:
