ok got it. coming from the german car world i'm knowing that term as it hits the rev limiter. but now i understand. and yeah, i do it from time to time like you said, usually when it's cold and my head's not in the game.

so, regarding his question, could this be just the screwed up weak throttle response? i had it going on pretty bad until i got the pedal commander.

There is a strange throttle lag in 1st and 2nd gear below 3000RPMs, but the other day I had the AC on for the first time and I noticed that feeling disappeared, I assume the fuel mapping is different with the AC on.

If it was a "bucking" sort of motion, you may have done the 1-2 upshift at a lower RPM than this engine likes. 2nd is a noticeably higher gear than first, and if you get on it at too low an RPM it'll do this sometimes. If it means anything, it used to happen to me too, now I just shift 1-2 around 2500.

    Yup.

If Toyota had done a better job setting up the auto trans, maybe this wouldn't be the case. Anywho, M/T was the ONLY choice for me.

It's got two gears too many for the transmission that I have that matches that shift pattern. :pout:

Yours probably aren't as smooth. And the noises you'd make if I grabbed them tightly and yanked them 10 inches back and forth wouldn't be nearly as satisfying as the ones that my truck makes.

For the sake of... well, let's say science.. I tried this yesterday. Works as expected, brakes and power steering GTG and of course linear engine braking (expensive air compressor, eh). Yay me. Lol, I couldn't do it for more than a few seconds, OCD took over. Back to "run" key posn, carry on.

So I've read some other members talk about the "clunk" on the shift on this truck. I've had mine for about 10 months now, and the clunk has not gone away going into 2nd gear. It really only happens when the truck is getting going after sitting for awhile. Am I going crazy? I came from a VW Golf TDI 6spd, where maybe the transmission wasn't directly under me?

More of a low harmonic buzz. Only while slipping the clutch in 1 or R. Only sometimes.
