First time taking the camera out this year and I drop it. For some reason I don't remember unlatching it from my Blackrapid strap and now the LCD swivel part is kinda bent and I cannot close the LCD screen flush to where it belongs :( Lens got mud on it too and I tried to clean is as much as I could there. Sad, sad day.

Hey thanks! It's the annual Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival in Woodburn, OR. Been taking my daughter there since 2012 when she was 3. I thought she would grow out of it by now bit she still has fun there with the activities they offer.

    Great shots!

As for dropping the camera and lens, I am a member of PPA.com (Professional photographers association) and if you become a member, which is about $27 a month, your membership includes around $15k in accidental insurance coverage. It's worth it for sure to consider!

Thanks! And not a bad idea with the membership. 15k is a lot of coverage for sure.

for a pro, $15k can be one camera and a lens.

    Canon EOS-1D X Mark II body only - $6000
    Canon EF 200–400mm f/4L IS USM - $110000

oops, we shot past your budget.

You can always get additional coverage. The $15k is just what is automatically covered with the membership fee.

And anyone paying $6k for that camera is crazy. I can get in new for $4k. lol And I am assuming you didn't quote $110,000 for the lens that is actually only $10k. Hahaha

my medium format was a Pentax 6x7 with 3 modest prime lenses (55/3.5, 105/2.4, 135/4 macro), a fair bit cheaper than that. of course, I bought it circa 1980.

When I was shooting on film I admit that I had a much lower cost camera, as the shooting was done strictly for personal use. Since stepping into the digital world I've gone from low cost for personal use, to a bit more expensive one for business work. When I started shooting professionally I went to a Canon 6D which to be honest I really love. Hopefully by end of this summer I will be able to get the 5D mk4. I get great photos and get published work, so I'm happy with it. In my opinion what makes a photo is not so much the camera, as it is the lens. High quality glass I feel is the most important. I love working with other photographers and exchanging ideas and techniques from composition to lighting styles.
