    And if you get Clevis mounts on the straps, it is very easy to dial in and to make up for strap strech.

    @SconnieHailer Marc's setup is great like that. I helped strap his truck a while ago.

    yeah. Thus why you see 5100s with bad lower bushings all the time.

    OME im guessing uses a different rubber compound that lasts longer/works better.

    Yes, your shock is your limiting factor. My old OMEs topped out hard. The coil is trying to rip your shocks apart when you do that.

    I had my rev limiter raised to 6200 for a while. I think i hit the limiter once at that speed while at the drag strip. I know i was close to pushing 14-15psi. I got smart and put it back to stock. I usually never go above 5k/11psi.

    Yeah the rubber wears on them just a bad. My 5100s were toast. after 2 years.

    So were yours, they certainly didn't look good.

    I've never had an issue with my ADS heims or my MCM uniballs. But i sprayed the shit Mike had on mine ones..and they squeaked after that. Idk about that stuff...

    I also have limit straps on Frank though.

    The sleeves on Mikes weren't deformed either. It was the aluminum rod end. basically the same thing as the rubber.

    Pretty sure the reason for heims isn't longevity, with race car/truck parts longevity is never the reason. But heims have a greater range of motion than steel set in rubber.

    Hard to quantify this. All the time would include highway miles. Doesn;'t seen like it would be topping ou there. Yet it is obviously topping out enough to wear them out in 20K miles. I would guess from that, that the offroad travel is pretty hard on them

    Yes. I think you need to strap your OMEs. :rolleyes:

    I start lubing them when the failure has occurred already. The lube stops the squeaking.

    I would not get too high and mighty bucko. When the shock's lower rubber bushing fails, the only fix is to replace the entire shock. OEM, OME and Billies are not rebuildable. I will gladly accept this shortcoming on my Kings over those pieces of crap.

    This is not true. Tim told me the aluminum rod ends were fine and did not require replacement. And the sleeves were not deformed either. Only the heim was replaced.

    There's no rubber above the sleeves, the sleeves were essentially up against the top part of the mount.

    This, and a more direct connection between the control arm and the shock. It would be silly to have rubber bushing on a performance shock.

    Should be able to hear/feel when they top out.

    What squeaked? The unibal or the lower heim? My uniballs when dry don't squeak. They do make a noise but it is way, way different from the lower heim failure squeak.

    My lower heims occasionally make a click noise, usually when I disturb the truck after letting it sit for a long time.

    Not that I am aware of, It certainly isn't a definite feel.

    Are we still talking about just the lower shock mount? Or all heims? Rubber allows uncontrolled movement. It is to get rid of the lack of direct connection between the LCA and the shock.

    Marc reported a 'clicking' noise when his lower heims were wearing out. It may be the same as what I refer to as a squeak.
