I have 2010 quad cab with the JBL stereo system. I bought a Pioneer AVIC 8200NEX to replace the factory HU. I also bought the iDataLink Maestro system along with the T01 accessory kit so that all the factory capabilities would transfer to the new system. After trying to decipher the <non-existent> instructions for a few hours I thought I had it figure out, but I don't get any sound. I have a CD in and can see that it's playing but no music. I can navigate the menus on the radio and it tells me the factory AMP is on so I think that part is good. There is one connection to the factory HU that didn't 'just fit' any of the connections in the aftermarket stuff.

It's the rightmost connection in the cluster of 3 on the left.

Does anyone know what that is?

Here is the male part from the factory wiring:

There were two open female harness parts on the cluster of wires that were kind of close:

Neither is an exact fit... but I can get it to snap in to one of them if I put it right in the center (and upside down). But that feels like luck as I would expect these to be exact fits.

It's driving me crazy. I spent about 3 hours on this one stupid step. I thought all these 'extra' parts (almost $200 worth) were supposed to make it easy. :)

Thanks for any info in advance.
    Mike

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I could be wrong, but i am fairly certain.

The JBL truck has some wiring differences, most aftermarket install kits come in two styles.. one for JBL and one for the rest

Yeah. Thanks for the reply. I bought the kit that is supposed to work with the JBL system and keep the amp plus the instructions have pages for the system with and without the amp.

That is your hookup for your flux capacitor.

On a serious note. My 2011 Tacoma non JBL had the same connector but it wasn't used in my truck.

:) I thought it would be easy, but I might as well be dealing with a flux capacitor.

So your stereo didn't have the input for that connection or it had it, but when you put a new one in it didn't need it?

    Thanks.

No my new head unit didn't use it. I just assumed it was for the JBL unit only. But the wiring harness I used didn't have a connection for something that small. Sorry I can't pinpoint exactly what it is.

No problem. Thanks for trying. Did your old HU have phone controls?

I thought I was home free. I figured out some apparent stupidity on my part which was that the 'output' RCA's on the actual HU aren't for output from the HU. I experimented with the other RCA connections and got the sound going. Installed the mic and the GPS antenna and was ready to rock. All inputs and outputs work for music and podcasts. So I spent 30 minutes figuring out how to stuff a cubic foot of wires into the spare space in the HU hole. Tried to make a phone call with the Bluetooth connector and couldn't hear the other end of the line. The could hear me. They were hearing me through the phone mic, not the HU's mic. Now I'm thinking the harness in question might be for phone audio. I'm not 100% sure though because I would have thought the head unit would push it's audio just through the normal speaker/pre-amp outputs?

I bought the idatalink maestro, T01, and double din mounting plate through them, but not the HU. I just got the phone stuff working... turns out the phone only comes through the front speakers and I had the RCAs messed up and going through the rear connector.

The only thing that isn't working for me now is the voice activation and on/off hook steering wheel buttons. More user error for sure.

    Thanks for the response!

I got it on Amazon. I combined some deals and got it for around $760 while Crutchfield wanted $994 for it. They would have given me $40 off the installation parts so I would have saved a little there, but not enough.

It's been a journey alright. I scratched my dashboard plate (where the air vents are) putting it in so now I have to do one of those sweet paint jobs on my interior... after I install my clazzio seat covers. Plus bending over to get down under the dashboard is making my knees hurt so I'll probably have to put a lift kit on 'er, too, to prevent further injury. It just never ends. :)
