The guy in Hawaii? Kit was like $2500 the last I checked. I thought about just making my own custom shaft and sourcing the rest of the parts myself. But I'm also too damn busy to do that right now.

yes, he has as full list and you would just buy the two or so custom parts, but it was still like 1500. I just dont have the time to dick around with all that so i just paid lol.

I can build the hubs and the CVs for much less. I've also got a reputable manufacturer working on a CV that will accept the 2nd gen spline shaft, that way it's easily replaceable down the road if it breaks.
I'm doing a PreRunner to FJ conversion of my own :)
I have everything but the hubs and CVs, waiting on this to fully mature before I can finish.

    Edit:
CV joints complete and fully tested :)

Adapter? You mean the custom shaft with the 2nd gen inner spline and the 1st gen manual hub outer spline?

What's the advantage of making a custom birfield vs a custom shaft? Are you doing that just to avoid having to by two sets of CV's to build one custom set?

Yes, a custom CV is best: if a half shaft breaks you can replace it with a shaft made for a 2nd gen.

I did this swap about 6 months ago. I just had my first leak at transfer case output. I would venture to saying if you dont use the seal very much(no 4wd time) its MORE likely to leak than if its in use all the time.

I agree. This is one of the reasons Toyota says to use 4WD at certain intervals. Don't remember what the interval is, because I use 4WD enough to not have to worry about it anymore.

I deleted the A.D.D. by welding the clutch sleeve to the hub, in the engaged position. I reused everything, nearly free mod.
I removed the 4 star bolts, tube came right off. You can remove the components from this same end, no need to remove the shaft from the tube. Once you slide the hub and sleeve out, place the hub within the sleeve on a flat surface and weld. Easy day.
I sealed and covered it with an aluminum plate.
Sold my actuator on the forum.

Do you have a front locker? Wondering about the strength of that shaft after welding the collar in place.

No locker. I’ve considered a Lincoln Locker since I installed the manual hubs

I have never seen a thread about front lockers breaking intermediate shafts.

Thanks. Recently had issues with my ADD. Worried about welding the collar with my ARB in front and a supercharger. Already snapped a CV.

So youre seeing a leak 6 months after doing the mod? Was considering doing this with a FJ case swap but dont want to be chasing leaks constantly
