    Hi

Horn on my 2011 Tacoma not working. Changed fuse, still not working.

Changed relay today, horn worked once. Took relay out, back in and horn beeped as I put relay in.

Horn works every once in a while now. So still a problem somewhere.

    Spiral Case?

    spiral cable is the issue

remove airbag, bypass horn wire to isolate problem to spiral cable to be sure

    Thank you

Not something I am comfortable/capable of doing. Off to the mechanic then.

Same thing happened to my truck. I tried replacing all the fuses relays etc... etc... Turns out it was the clock spring under the air bag in the steering wheel. I went to the dealer and said hey I am getting a warning light for the Air Bag. Clock spring or spiral cable assembly controls air bag and horn. Wink Wink at the dealer and they replaced it under warranty for the Air bag. The are threads talking about replacing clock spring/spiral cable assembly on this forum. I do not mess with air bags it makes me nervous so I checked my warranty info and got a dealer to cover it.

This was about a $900 fix just for a horn. Horns are required in some states if you have inspection.

Yea, airbag scares me too. Have good mechanic, reasonable prices, will fix it for me.

Ugh I just had the same thing happen to me! Horn was working intermittently recently then cut out completely. When I hit the panic button the horn still works fine so my guess is its the spiral cable and not the horn fuse/relay (although still going to check). There is no airbag or other light on that would indicate a problem with. Does an authorized dealer need to do this work or a trusted mechanic? How difficult is this to do myself? I've replaced spark plugs, all oils, serpentine belt, etc on my 2012 Taco and was looking up threads here to replace spiral cable. The airbag does scare me a bit though...

Update: Well I took my truck into my local trusted shop and they confirmed it was the spiral cable/clock spring. They fixed it at a cheaper rate but still cost over $500. I've got 120k miles on her so hopefully its good for at least another 100k. At least this is the first problem I've had on the truck so far!

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Excuse me but doesn't the dealer fix that for free?

Not that I'm aware of. I had read on here that if it was under warranty still and airbag light was on that they might. But since its 5 years old and 120k miles I'm sure I'm out of luck.
