People want too much on CL. I've been scanning it for the past year. Best to go get a < $200 sit-on deal from Academy or Wal-Mart.

I was going to get the 2.0, no need for 2.5

Yeah I've seen a couple that are ridiculous.

What do you want to do with the kayak? Fish out of it? Whitewater? Race? Lazy paddles around the lake? Rivers? Camp? Peddle it? Paddle it?

Narrow down what you want to do with it and then you can start to narrow down boats...

And I disagree about the $200 Walmart/Dicks deals... They are $200 for a reason! You can get a great boat on CL in the $3-500 and it's going to be a ton better than any cheap intro models... Plus you can turn around and sell it to recoup your loss if it isn't for you or decide to upgrade boats.

Just go around lakes and stuff, maybe the beach, couple or rivers just stuff like that. No fishing.

Yeah I'm not gonna get the $200 deals, found some on craigslist for $400 which is about my price range

Like you say, depends what you want to do with it. I'm going to plop kids on them. I don't need a kayak with so many features they don't need or can't carry across shoals.

That makes sense why you wouldn't want a 400+ kayak, if that was my use the kids would get what they get ha

Gotcha... Just curious as to why you prefer a sit-in vs sit-on? The only place where I can think of the sit-in style being better is for a whitewater boat.

    Sit-Ons:
-Much easier to get in and out of... Especially if you accidentally dump it!
    -Dry storage compartments (model dependent)
    -Rear deck space

Just what I've used and have been accustom to. Plus it's nice that my legs won't get burnt as easy. Usually some of the sit ins have dry storage too.

But I also wouldn't mind maybe getting into some white water down the road.

If you want to do beach and a sit in you probably need a skirt too (if there are any waves). I would call up to some of the outfitters in NC around nantahala or ocoee, a while back I picked two up from them on their clearance sale/auction. Can't remember how often they do them but they get rid of old boats when they buy new ones. Grabbed two whitewater boats, paddles and skirts for like $250 each.
