Pardon my ignorance here, but where can I find if there are any TSBs that need to be done on my truck?

This is going to sound crazy, but I took the new truck on two long, open highway trips since my last post. Added another 600 miles to the odometer, and it's shifting fine. I quit using the S4 and ECT modes and it really has improved in an enormous way. I wonder too, how much was related to getting out of my rush hour commute.

Still not perfect, but good enough now that I don't even notice it anymore.

Hilly in places, but Mississippi, so mostly flat to rolling hills. I'm really convinced now that part of my transmission's problem was that it'd been driven almost exclusively in rush hour traffic. Also, the tip to quit using the S4 really seems to have helped.

Flat highway doesn't cause any issues, really. Why would you use S4? It'll go all the way up to S6. I think most people had success in S5

It's not mountainous here, but not Kansas flat either. I live in the hilly part of the state. I was frustrated with how it seemed to constantly shift up and down, seemingly at random. Mostly speaking generically when referring to S4, was using S4-S6 depending on overall speed. Since I put more miles on and let it stretch its legs some the shift-happy nature has toned down a lot. TSB was already performed on mine before I got it.

That is great to hear. Mine shifts very well now at 2200 miles - well for a truck. I'm satisfied and have no complaints but the key for me was to lay off the ECT and Sport. Once I did it improved quickly and dramatically because the shifting for a while was almost comical. Now if someone can just fix this rear diff....

Nothing wrong, nothing to see here... except a bunch of people manually shifting their 6 speed auto as if it were a 4 speed.

i agree with above statement. Out of frustration i was using Ect and S mode as well. After noticing my mileage going in the shitter I quit using them. Truck is shifting good enough for me and mileage went back up. Good enough for me and that's all I care about.

I had the TSB done back in Feb. and didn't really notice a big change. The service guy told me that I might not be thrilled
with the results after they do the flash. I haven't a clue what he meant by that or why he said it but for the most part my tranny hasn't
been too bad. It has it's skitzo moments where it doesn't want to shift or just behaves oddly. I think where the problem lies is in the motor. I posted in this thread a while back calling this truck a gutless wonder and although I still feel the same way about the motor, I
don't think that was entirely accurate. For example last weekend I was heading up the hill on the freeway with my motorcycle in back and had to pull off on the shoulder to check something. Merging back on I saw a small break in traffic and floored it and this thing shot out like a rocket, and when you keep the pedal to the metal it goes. The problem is you can't just drive around town or wherever with
your foot to the floor. What really has got me down about this truck is that it totally lacks that umph or ooomph or torque...whatever
you want to call it to get over even the slightest of grades without having to downshift and rev out the motor. It kinda embarrassing to
be riding along the freeway next to someone and they've got their window down and can hear your motor screaming to get over a 1%
grade...ha ha I love this truck and all it's nice features but man I miss the power of my old Frontier or maybe torque would be more accurate. Probably both.

I just got my Tacoma, only have 600 miles on it but taking it in to have factory tonneau cover installed. I haven't had any issues with the transmission other then when on an incline at highway speeds. Should I go ahead and have them do the tsb while I am there even with not having the major issues I've seen in various topics by others ?

I've also read here about transmission fluid being low so I'm going to ask them to check that as well.

Just heard about a rear end recall on the news. We should all see paperwork in the mail by June.
