Aftermarket Upper control arm question. Please advise

    It's stainless steel on a teflon like coating, so kinda like metal on plastic, really shouldn't make any noise. I think the whole lubing thing started because people were concerned about corrosion on the uniballs? That's why you buy the good ones like TC/Icon with the stainless uniballs. Cheaper ones use steel that will corrode and rust. Lubing them can actually cause the teflon to kind of soak up the lubricant and it will break down and almost shred like fabric. Done made that mistake.
    Again most of the noise comes from the bushings, which most people probably DON'T grease properly, as you are suppose to loosen the through bolt and grease until it comes out, then tighten the bolt back up with truck on the ground.

    Yes, and I've have replaced them a few times, also. I also wheel pretty hard.

    can anyone confirm that the LR is fully compatible with the extended travel coilovers like the uniballs? If they are what are the advantages of the uniball type vs the LR/SPC uca?

    I've had the Built Rigth for almost three years now and would buy again. I don't jump or extreme off-road but what I know is my alignment is easily accomplished and I have sharp looking UCA's

    The only advantage of the LR, in my opinion is the price. They are the entry level and a decent product but for not much more the built right are way nicer.

    In my opinion if someone buys premium shocks/suspension they should buy the same quality UCA's and not the LR's. Nothing against them but let's match parts.

    Not sure what your definition is of a long travel coilover is. Is it simply more travel than stock? If so, the typical definition is mid travel, not long travel.

    Long travel kits include upper and lower A arms that change the location of the pivot points and the shock mounting points. Light Racing's UCAs are not compatible with any long travel kits that I am aware of.

    Bailing wire & Duct tape
    I have LC UCA arms and extended travel icons. I have about 60K hard off-road/on road miles on this setup and I'm on my second pair of LR's (previous truck). They're great; noiseless and maintenance free. I've never felt the need to "upgrade" to uniballs.

    Like I stated in the post you quoted, along with others and Google as well, LR UCA's are totally compatible with extended travel coilovers. Many people run this setup, including myself. They are a great option for standard or extended/mid-travel setups. They are not for long-travel. Do not confuse extended/mid travel with long travel; those are two totally different setups with different equipment.
