What turned me onto mobtown originally was a search for sliders. After doing some searching I was sold. After that the Joe's earned my business as long as they keep making shit for these trucks.

After seeing they way they treat people and customers it only reinforced how I felt. These are honest guys just like I like to think I am.

They could make a whirlybird ugly part for the roof and I'd buy it cause I trust em to make sure it's engineered correctly and outlast its intend purpose.

I guess I'll contribute my $0.02 on this.

Ever thought about getting into high density plastics? The same machines to bend and shear metal, can bend and shear high density PP plastics. Drilling holes then riveting, or plastic welding would fuse the panels together. Not necessarily sure what products you could make, but that is an option using the equipment you have already.

Another option is getting into stainless products. I know that's a niche market since most people would go into aluminum before stainless, but you could work the toughness/corrossion resistance angle with stainless since you can produce a thinner product with an equivalent strength to mild steel.

Maybe pre built, or bolt in roll cages?

    Just food for thought.

I come from a engineered plastics backround! Yes, I was just talking to our shop landlord who buys/sells plastics auxiliary equipment. We were discussing injection molding and thermoform machines because we have ideas for them.

As for stainless I never put a ton of thought into because stainless is heavy and very expensive. I could see where some products would be pretty beneficial in stainless steel though.

The roll cages are a good idea. I've. Hilt a few with my stepdad in his old muscle cars. Time consuming but fun.

Tons of information covered over the evening. I am going to go through and compile a list of all comments.

We already took note on the website being a priority and began talking to the place we talked to before about building a better site.

Here are some thoughts for what I think could help, I think all of this has already been stated though...

    1. Make a bed rack for (low and high profile) RTT racks. You could either make this a completely bolt together assembly, or use a tube bender to make the frame work.

    2. Dedicate a few times a year to see to completion of new armor designs. I know this is much easier said than done as I think you have had a challenging time keeping a solid staff. If there is a way to solidify one to two people where you can have your expertise more in the design phase with bumpers and such for the 4runner, I can only imagine how much business that would bring.

    3. Prices seem pretty fair for what you offer, with the sliders I found them to be a little much for me and went elsewhere. I don't know what the process involves to justify the price, but that's my honest take. With that being said, your skids are solid and have met every expectation I have had for them.

    1. Great idea! I want to see what it would take to make a tube rack that could be bolted together so shipping cost can be keep down. Shipping a full, completed rack is a lot of money.

    2. You are absolutely right. We were growing faster than we could staff and had a lot of issues finding good help. We have leveled out now and seem to have a grasp on things. Over the past month I have been doing nothing but finishing all the R&D projects as well as starting new ideas.

    3. Sliders are a tough market. Our cost are very high and there is a lot of labor involved in making them. We came up with a new, better fixture that cut our manufacturing time down by 30% so that helps a lot. We are still looking for ways to make this better. We have to outsource all our plate cutting and forming which eats margins too. Most of our competitors have their own plasma and brakes in house which helps with that. You still have material and then the overhead on the machines, but it is still far less than outsource.

Our unique design for mounting the sliders to the frame involves a lot more pieces that every other vendor. Obviously that makes it more costly, but we think it's much better. For example, we have almost 3x as many bolts per side as every other vendor and we have 4 extra pieces that others don't have. When you start adding it up, we aren't that much different in cost that most of the other vendors. Acutally, I don't think we are the most expensive and we run sales constantly so every few of our slider orders are at full price. It would be nice to be less expensive, but I think we may come up with a less hardcore design that is slightly less expensive. We would offer both and give customers a choice.

Ah that makes sense with the sliders, if you have to outsource it then yea I understand the differential there. Glad to hear that you are getting the team built up, which hopefully can lead to many more concrete designs on stuff. Im sure once more items get developed, you will likely be consistently slammed, but could eventually warrant a different location? If that is the case, could be a whole new avenue to more employees and growth overall.

I do agree with you guys being very good at offering opportunities to get your products at quite considerable costs. Hell my skids were a steal...

Since I am not familiar with the bolt on application of your sliders. Does the customer have to drill additional holes on the frame to accommodate 3 times the amount of bolts? I ask this as I have bolt on sliders that have four bolt on locations to the side of the frame that utilize most of the spots available on the frame. I then had to drill more holes on the bottom to double my contact points available. This made my sliders have a total of 8 contact points per slider. I couldn't imagine having 12 points of contact per side, but Im sure its possible with enough drilling right?

Absolutely no drilling with our design for what we feel is the strongest bolt on option to date.

I see that now but maybe show more of the designs on that first page.

There is no drilling for the sliders, it uses existing holes + some clamps

Curious, do you got pics of the bolt on locations on the sliders? Interested in seeing where all the hardware goes to.
