    I guess I should have been more specific.........what changed in the design itself other than the weight rating. I have one already and love it.

    Most people I believe that put Kayak racks on them put the crossbars in the open position which leaves a lot of room.

    Was this when they were swinging them open or closed, other than that I don't see the issue. And if you keep a little upward pressure when your swinging them, there is no issue.

    This is a hell of a lot cheaper than I got nailed with when I ordered my ride.
