What the consensus on Mobile1 75w90? I'd like to buy local and there's no redline here.

I'd note that the number in the door jambs could be erroneous based on historical info - I have the service manual and will verify; but I have a TRDSport 4x4 6M/T. When I googled the diff number in the door jamb I got a much older, smaller ring diff. That said I bought 6 quarts when I did my diff fluid service and it was *barely* enough. Buying an extra quart seems dumb, but I found it was cutting it really close without.

As long as its GL-5, you're good to go.

Your service manual should list your truck and correct fill amount. I wouldn't trust google.

Just fill until she overflows. I've always said that.

Understood - I did a nice writeup somewhere on here - the point was the code on the doorjamb won't tell the whole story. My example being the "B06A" diff doesn't exist in the service manual as far as I can tell (I have an earlier version downloaded) and I needed more than the fluid noted in the owners manual. A lot easier to buy too much early than be underfilled and need a ride to the parts store.

While not extremely intuitive in the manual, the number I'm talking about would be the "GRN3..."

Did your M/T truck take more than the 4.0?

It did, it took closer to 4.2 or 4.3 (it was tough to tell as I pour the remains of the last bottle into the new one before pumping in - but I had every bit of 6 empty quarts of my diff fluid after the front and rear diffs were done). As you said early on it's all about the fill to trickle; just wanted @killthehippies to know to over buy (better safe than sorry thing).

I use it in my differentials. Not my transfer case.

2017 TRD Off Road with 1200 miles, my experience.

I normally would not check the transmission (manual), transfer case, or differentials and assume the are correctly filled from the factory and or dealer check if it wasn't for comments on this website. The rear differential took one quart gear oil and the transmission took 2/3 quart and transfer case was OK. Still need to check the front differential.

Get the specifics for the gear oil required from the owners manual before buying any. My Toyota dealer was totally confused on the correct gear oil and in fact I was given the wrong product.

When adding 0W-20 engine oil you do not need a funnel. If you open a quart of oil, hold it down below the engine fill tube you can then lift the bottom of the quart of oil up with the open neck over the fill tube. There is room to raise the bottom of quart between the radiator and the left front headlight. Go through the motions with an in-opened quart as practice.

Yup, set it up to be delivered every 6 months- mine was a year old and really nasty. Easy to replace, took less than 5 minutes.

The arrow on the oem one points up and tells u to install face up as arrow indicating but on the fram the arrow points up and indicate air flow direction! When I pulled the old one the dirt seamed to be on the top side what led me to believe the arrow need to face down! Anyone can shime on this?

Nice post. My stealership didn't do a good job briefing me on my maintenance schedule, so this is perfect. Thank you for the tips.

Quick question, my Tacoma did not come with a Tonneu cover so I purchased a factory OEM one off craiglist today. However I did not realize that the plastic on the side of the bed (the one that snaps off) is not pre cut to fit the brackets. Therefore I have to completely remove the plastic to have the bed cover on. Is there a way to purchase the correct plastic or would I just be better off cutting it myself?

    Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have specs for correct torque of the wheel bolts? I looked in the manual and couldn't find any. I have a '17 TRD OR 6MT

You could probably purchase the plastic rails, but that's more $$. I also purchased the OEM cover off craigslist, and I did a rail swap with the guy I bought it from. Any chance you could do that?

Otherwise there's a thread on here somewhere that the guy details cutting his rails to accomodate the cover.

I believe 83 FT. Lbs. It's listed here on TW along with torque for other things, just can't recall what it's listed under.

The wheel lug nut torque is 83 ft lbs. It's listed by the OP at the start of this thread under Rotate Tires.
    There ya go.

See it now - thanks for pointing out.

Another question - does anyone rotate the spare in at all? Wondering since it is a full-size spare.

No, you'd have to remove it from the steel rim, not worth it
