The weird thing Is when the 4Runner was in Houston it would hit 20mpg occasionally, now u can't get less than 20 unless you just beat the piss out of it

I'll probably get the LCE header once the warranty is up, might get me back to where I was before I added a new wheel/tire combo and cap. Then again maybe not, it'll at least be nice to have a little more oomph going up hills. Now that the weather is nice again, it looks to be exactly 1 mpg loss with my aforementioned modifications. My best tank of 26 mpg was completely stock.

I just filled up yesterday @ 24.7MPG calculated. Knowing what I do about my truck, I may have been able to squeeze out another .2-.3MPG if I tried my best.

Does anybody by any chance know what the coefficient of drag is for our tacos?

My experience also on summer blend with my 16 DCLB OR. I could definitely see a positive difference when winter blends faded away.

Just got back from a trip from KS to Ill. and back. I don't use ETC and my MPG in speed limits under 60mph were in the upper 20's even saw 21. Anytime I was running 75-80mph MPG dropped to the mid 19's. I did pick up a headwind on the way back and MPG dropped to the high 17's while driving 75-80mph. Coming from a 3/4t 4x4 V10 Dodge I'm ecstatic!

And I'm impressed you remember what my forum name means!

Glad the mileage is coming up. I knew you were unhappy with it.

You were off by just a little bit
Turns out access cabs have a higher coefficient. Wasn't expecting that

Funny thing is I bought my truck as a demo with 8k miles on it. Helluva deal for what I got. I do not think I had a TSB applied to it. I asked about it when I bought the truck and the service tech told me to drive it for awhile to see if I experienced the transmission issues. I don't, so I never pushed for the TSP and don't ever plan to at this point. I've owned it since last Oct and the truck now has 13k on the OD.

My Frontier Pro-4x does just fine at 80mph in 6th, 18.7mpg on the last trip down that stretch of highway with the cruise set, and 2400rpm IIRC, no need to downshift through the hills. Sometimes I'll take the scenic route home with 50-60mph speeds and see 22mpg. No complaints.

You get a squared function with the drag force calculation.....then power gets one more instance of velocity, resulting in a cubed function. Power is roughly equal to fuel consumption if you assume a constant BSFC.

I've see a few posts saying I am wrong and not backing up with data...care to back up your statements?

Oh, and I did google it before posting so as to check my memory, did you?

    Scroll to the "Power" heading.

    http://bfy.tw/BVeh

The whole point is that increasing speed results in a very high fuel economy penalty because its not a linear relationship. Hence the reason there was a breif period of national 55mph speed limit during the 1970 gas crunch...or at least they tried to enforce it.

Pretty much on par with my MT v6. Probably similar Cd between the two.

I don't think, on average, the MT gets any less real world MPG than the auto. Makes sense, because again, it takes the same amount of power to push the truck at the same speed. Unless the BSFC in those conditions is significantly different, its gonna result in the same economy.

I only get about 18mpg in my 2017 Sport. My 2006 nissan frontier did not do much worse.

thats exactly what I realized as soon as I posted, hence the never mind post. I was thinking force not power. My bad.
