How does one remove the stock shift knob from the 6 speed manual? Does it just twist off or is there a trick to it?

I bought this one from pepboys. I think it was only $19.99 and came with different size spacers.

Sorry, I don't know because I only have a 5 speed stick, but I really like my 1960's Hurst Cue Ball shift knob. :)

I just purchased one of these on Ebay. The seller is in Thailand but it only took a little over a week to arrive. Very good quality and the price is superb compared to buying from Toyota. He also has the same thing in all black. Plus lots of other emblems for different vehicles. Good quality on those too.

Here's the link to his "stuff"

I have no affiliation with this guy. I just wanted to share.

You'll think the site is Miata only. But it's not really. It's tilted that way because it's the best selling sports car ever, and Joe has one.

Anyway, if you contact him, I suspect he'll make any fitment you want. And the Tacoma may be the same thread anyway.

BTW, I have 2 of his custom tag frames that are over 10 years old and still in excellent shape, no special care.

    TWM performance knob:

First impression- seemed very light for the price paid. Figured it would have been heavier.

Install was simple, direct thread on and it's an adjustable height knob

Driving- Really like the feel, seems to make shifting slightly smoother. Only complaint is the threads come loose every once in a while and I have to twist it back on while driving.
