How is it going to ruin the springs? I know it might not make the smoothest ride. But I will change them when money is available.

I've have known people for years and years who have had block in the trucks. Surly there's other ways but it's not the end of the world. Especially if it's temporary. Budgets are budgets.

There's pros and cons to every modification. In a perfect world I'd have done a leaf pack. It'll happen eventually.

There are trucks that come from the factory with blocks in the rear (ford).

No big deal. Just watch out for axle wrap while wheeling.

Also keep an eye out on the buy/sell section because I've seen the add-a-leafs on there for sale pretty cheap.

    Good luck with the install!

They really aren't horribly expensive. Add a leafs from what I read come with issues also. I guess anything mechanical does when it comes to wheeling. I'd like to go with a full leaf pack when I do it. Then the extra things that need to be replaced when doing that. It adds up. If I had 1600 bucks to spend I'd have bought the kit that had everything. But I don't. Lol.

The funny thing about that is I wish I had just saved/waited and bought what I wanted because I probably wasted that much buying shitty parts :frusty:

Well I'm trying to avoid the useless spending. My 3" lift was a gift. So I'm working around my budget and trying to do things as smart as I can.

Do you off-road your truck or is this for looks?

5100's are decent shocks. They're basically a stock replacement shock with a little extra travel and a shiny shell. They're cheap, easily replaceable and readily available. With the proper OME coils it should be decent. You won't be winning any score races, but you won't be laughed at for having spacers anymore.

If you plan on abusing this truck off-road I'd look for something bigger/better.

It's my daily driver. But I like to do a little off road stuff.

I suppose there's plenty of reasons for not going bigger. I have seen plenty of trucks do serious wheeling with a 3" lift. So size my friend doesn't matter. As far as people laughing at me. They have been doing that since high school, until I stole their gf or nailed their sister :) where size does matter :)

Not all 3" lifts are created equal ;)

I'm not suggesting a "larger" lift.

You said bigger/better. What was one to think you meant? lol I know they aren't. But this is certainly not a stock set of springs or coils. I got the longer rear shocks to allow me to get new leaf springs in I so choose later when I have more money.

Most don't consider more lift to be "better". :notsure:

They might not be "stock" but they are just OEM replacements.

EDIT: I didn't see you had already picked the 5100's and OME coils. I wasn't trying to bag on your choice. Just giving unbiased input.

There is nothing similar about these in comparison to the stock shocks or springs.

There is nothing exactly the same. There at twice and many coils on the springs. The shocks are way bigger is size. I'm telling you, your comments are misleading and incorrect. They make look similar but they are not.

Twice as many coils on the springs? No. :rofl:Do you have any idea what the spring rate is? :cookiemonster:

The shocks, by design are identical. Yes, one has a SLIGHTLY larger body(but you said size doesn't matter), but they're identical internally. The valving *might* be slightly different, but there is no actual proof of that.

Your new stuff is cool and I'm glad you're happy with it, but just because they're on YOUR truck doesn't turn them into magic trophy truck race parts. :homer:

Do some research about the spring rates and shock designs if you really want to know the differences between shocks.
