GPS Update using this method?

Has anybody done the steps listed at the site Toyota.Garmin.com?

 

i was told it wouldn't work in our trucks so i didnt even try it

I tried that method but never got Garmin to recognize it. I spent a good 2 days on it. If someone figures it out, let me know.

 

This doesn't work... Nav updates are via the proprietary SD cards. Also, have tried copying a 2017 card as a data img and formatting old 2016 card and copying new image file... Still doesn't work. Options are to pay $180 for a new card from Toyota or maybe go take a new one for test drive

 

I have a 2017 the maps it came with are garbage. It doesn't have roads in the Las Vegas area that were completed 5 years ago still. I guess I will complain at the 5k service and see if I can get the updated there is one

 

Updated cards come out in October of every year. So you'll have to wait a little longer for the updated cards.

You could have a 2016 card in your 2017... Check this thread:
