Oh good catch. I'll delete the second quote. First quote is still promising though, I just emailed them asking for an update

Facebook post on April 28 says, "initial release for that is late spring early summer".

I know this is a 3rd gen thread, but if the 1GR is tuned from the factory for 87, and capable of adjusting the timing for 91, why doesn't there seem to be any good tuners that will adjust the ECU to run 91 and push a few more HP? If the factory de tunes the motor, how can you get a decent performance running?

I run 91 now because overall I get better mileage but I would LOVE to find a good tune for this engine. Some of the factory tunes don't seem too great though.

Emailed OrangeVirus Tuning -- sounds like we can expect an ECU tune sometime in summer, but handheld tuning will come later.

The truck has plenty of high rpm horsepower what it needs is better low end torque

Seems to me a quick and dirty check on the throttle body would be to pull it and floor the car engine off. See the speed and how far the butterfly is opening and verify if toyota is really doing something as simple as tb limiting power. Then start drilling holes in the butterfly valve :).

In any case if they are limiting the tb, it be quick fix to change the tb motor out to open more if the maf sensor is up to snuff at metering the fuel and ignition to compensate which seems plausible say within maybe +10 or so percentage point to account for general environment conditions.

I wonder if anyone has checked this yet. Could be a very simple fix for some hidden HP, much like the intake flapper mods on Honda CBR1000s

I was definitely looking at that thread, but I wasn't referring to it. Although I have been jumping around a lot on TW today haha
