Cruise kit is available from The Cruise Control store for $214 including the correct side cover. Be sure to use the correct "brown" harness. One fits the steering column plug, one does not. Use the harness that matches the pins on the black ground harness and the green cruise light harness.

Install is a bit fiddly, the wiring harness pins are very small and if you have old person eyesight and thick fingers like me, it might take a while. Figure a minimum of two hours unless you have done it before.

Funny. I hate my CC and rarely use it. It's far too aggressive for my liking and I can't see it saving me any gas when it drops 3 gears and damn near hits the rev limiter at the first sign of a slight grade. :bananadead:

On perfectly flat land it's probably a great feature. Unfortunately, there isn't much of that where I drive.

My dog ate a dime. Next time I took him outside, he pooped out a nickel. And the next time I took him outside, he pooped out a penny. Then I understood. He was making change. I'm still waiting for the rest of my change, though.

On Christmas Eve, my dog realized that he forgot to get me anything for Christmas. So he gave me a jigsaw puzzle and a new wallet. He chewed up my wallet and shredded $102. It took me about an hour to match all the pieces and tape the money back together.

I once saw a dog swallow a live june bug. He got a "boy, did I fuck up" look on his face, then he barfed it back up, still alive.

Figured I'd start this thread and see where it goes. I guess I'll start.

    July 2016:

The most expensive and most unique vehicle I've ever been picked up in when I used Uber was a Tesla Model S. This was probably the only time I didn't request an Uber because I planned on drinking. Rather fittingly, I called this Uber to pick me up at the Malibu beach house my family rented for a week and take me to Beverly Hills for the sole purpose of photographic exotic cars. I took pictures inside the Tesla while en route to the 90210 (with the owner's permission of course) and posted them to Facebook right from the shotgun seat:

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

My ride back to Malibu was a nice foreign guy (I believe he was Armenian) in a late model but rather ordinary Nissan Altima.

I've only had two complaints about Uber in the roughly year and a half I've been using it...

Complaint #1 (October 2016): My best friend's 30th birthday party (at his parents' house; He lives in a 1-bedroom apartment and his parents let him use their huge house to throw a huge 30th birthday blowout). Everyone got pretty drunk, and I'd of course left the Tacoma at home and been dropped off by my mom. By 1:00am-1:30am, most people had gone home or passed out in the basement. A few of us were just sitting around talking. I opened the Uber app and requested an UberX from my friend's house to my house, a 10-15 minute drive that should have cost around $12-$15. The most I've ever paid during surge pricing is like $26 for a ride from the bar where I work to my house (typically $12-$14; $24-$28 round trip). I request an UberX and when I see the fare estimate I thought I was imagining things! Like $80 for an UberX (The cheapest Uber).

The (Un)Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Liquor Communism Board require that all bars close at 2am, with the exception of "After Hours" clubs which stay open until 3am or 4am. As such, last call is at about 1:30-1:45. All patrons have typically been kicked out by 1:50 at the latest. It is not uncommon for the staff (bartenders, barbacks, waiters/waitresses/servers, even bouncers on occasion) to be there until 3am or later cleaning up. This obviously peak time for all drunks to calling Ubers. However, I have ordered an UberX (and on one occasion a Black Car when no UberX's or UberXL's were available) close to last call before. Even on Friday and Saturday nights when demand is at it's peak, I've never ever seen a one-way UberX fare from the bar where I work to my parents' house exceed $26.

I see this $80 one-way fare and, still a bit buzzed, scream out "What the fuck?!?!" My best friend and my other friends who are still there look over at me and my friend tells me to calm down then asks what's the matter. I tell the group, and we all unanimously agree that $80 for a ride that takes at most 15 minutes is bullshit. One of my friends who's only had a drink or two and by then is totally sober offers to take me home, and I say I'll gladly pay him in cash what I would have paid a reasonably priced UberX driver on my credit card. He says I don't have to pay him, but that I have to ride in the back because he's taking other people home. My friend drives a late model Chevy Malibu. I try for 40 minutes or so to get an Uber, but the price keeps going up. Eventually it peaks at over $100, before going back down to like $60. By this time, I am almost completely sober and my friend is ready to leave, and he's still refusing to accept my money, so I opt for a free ride home in his Malibu instead of waiting for an Uber that will probably not go below $25.

My friend drove me home and I went to bed. The next morning, I look at my ride history just for grins and realize that I've been charged a $5 cancellation fee. It turns out I actually summoned an Uber, and the poor bastard actually drove out to my friends' house and waited outside for a good 5-10 minutes. He even texted me and called me, but I didn't hear it, and he was long gone by the time we went out to my friend's car. The ride would have been $26 and change, and it's probably better I didn't ride home with this guy because he holds the distinction of being the same guy who drove me home from the bar where I work that one time I got really hammered. Would've been awkward...

Uber complaint #2: I requested an UberX to take me from my parents' house to the bar where I work for our unofficial staff drinking night (Always on Thursdays, since our bar and other local bars aren't crowded with drunk college students and tourists). The driver who answered my request was a 30-something black woman in a Nissan Murano. Every Uber driver I've ever gotten has had a rating of 4.5 to 4.8 stars. This woman's rating was only 3.8 stars, which should have been a warning sign. Very rarely do I ever get picked up female Uber drivers, and on the rare occasion that I do, they've always been sweethearts.

I live in a brand new neighborhood that isn't even on my new Garmin GPS that I just got last November, so naturally Uber drivers have a bit of trouble finding my house. They typically take the first left turn instead of driving less a quarter of a mile down the street and taking the second left turn. This puts them in a different neighborhood and they get lost, but I've never had trouble directing them to my house (Just look for the house with the silver regular cab Tacoma in the driveway; Sometimes I even put the hazards on in my truck to get their attention; Works great!).

So, I'm watching this woman on the GPS tracker and she's so close to my house but she keeps driving around in circle. Finally she calls me (or I might have called her) and the voice on the other end is anything but sweet. She spoke with a very thick accent and she was black so I'm guessing Jamaican/Caribbean? She was very rude to begin with, but rude or not I could barely understand her, and the fact that I couldn't understand her seemed to make her angrier. I've been picked up by foreign Uber drivers who don't speak English as a first language and they have no problem finding my house. I even got picked up by a deaf Uber driver at my new house and not only did he have no problem following the directions I texted to him, but he was honestly one of the most professional drivers I've ever ridden with.

I gave this woman clear directions, and she just wasn't comprehending what I was saying. At one point she actually had the nerve to ask me to walk out to the main road and flag her down. EXCUSE ME?!?! Eventually I just got fed up, hung up on her, and cancelled the ride. I then immediately requested another ride, and this woman was still in the area, so she accepted the request. I of course cancelled and sent out a third request. This woman in the Murano accepted again, so I cancelled again and waited about 5 minutes.

When I sent out a fourth or fifth request, I finally got another driver. It was another woman, , driving a Chrysler 200. I immediately called her, and when an obviously American, English-speaking woman answered the phone, I actually said something like "Thank Christ, you actually understand me!" I explained to her what had happened, and then I texted her turn-by-turn directions to my house. She had absolutely no problems finding my house, and she was very nice. When I got to the bar where I work, I found out that I'd been charged a cancellation fee (from the woman in the Murano). I was livid, but it was only $5 and I figured I could let it slide this once. My boss's boyfriend and I got to talking over a cold beer a short time later, and he told me I could complain and Uber was awesome about compensating dissatisfied customers. I filed a complaint via my iPhone that my driver had been unprofessional and gave a specific well-detailed description of how she'd been very rude on the phone and expect me to walk out to the main road to find her. Within minutes of filing that complaint, $5 was deducted from my total fare with the woman in the Chrysler (pretty sure she still got the full $13.86 or whatever)

Moral the story: Don't accept any Uber drivers whose rating is below 4 stars!

Its a job. If affects everyone, theres absolutely no way for it to not. Some hold up better than others. Many use alcohol, and serial marriages. It's a hard life to lead and really hard on the spouse.

Statistically if you make your 20 you'll die within 3 years of retirement. Heart attack, kidney and liver failure, suicide. Those account for most cops deaths. Heat attack from 20+ years of constant stress, literally 24/7 if you live in the town you work. Liver failure from alcohol abuse. Kidney failure from all the crap on your belt posing on them for 20 years. And suicide because. Just because.

I did it for a decade, held up better than most until the end. Saw where i was headed and was smart enough to walk away.

A decade later, still a few events that bother me at night.

Element is the other daily driver. They still have it. It's not even an all-wheel drive, though. My uncle used it to pull the jet skis he used to own. Totally stock except for aftermarket rims and a touch-screen head unit with iPod hookup.

    @Plain Jane Taco

Ever since I started talking to you, I've starting reading up on Stormtroopers and have learned quite a bit about them. Also, I think any future Star Wars movies should go the way of The Force Awakens and give a Trooper or two their own backstory.

My theory is that prior to the The Force Awakens era, future Stormtroopers were not taken from their families at a young age like FN-2187/Finn, but rather enlisted in the Imperial Forces voluntarily. Some Stormtroopers were sociopathic brutes for sure (Like the ones who killed Owen and Beru and torched their moisture farm), but the vast majority of them were probably good guys (and girls). They can probably be compared to Confederate/Rebel soldiers in the Civil War, and entry-level German soldiers in WWII.

Also, I'm guessing that in a time of great darkness, what the Empire offered them at the time was quite appealing (I'm guessing food, a roof over their heads, a place to sleep, the Galactic Empire equivalent to health insurance, a decent salary, and in some cases a company starship).

    What do you think?
