Yes, those are along the lines I'm thinking. Except the wife isn't big on dead animal parts in the house. I think they would make an awesome chandelier. But pick your battles, right?

The entry has pony wall either side, so any bench will be backless. Because of that, I like the idea of emphasizing the species and grain more than structure, I think.

Edit: also want room for shoes underneath. Attempting shoe-free household in the new place.

...you could probably get some wrought iron hooks of some sort, ...or perhaps by some and do DIY-type distressing/aging?... I was thinking quatersawn white oak more in line w/ "craftsman"-style, ...but if you want more of a high-country lodge-style atmosphere, ..maybe some of the softwoods would be more pertinent; pine, cedar, fir, ?...

I like all of those. The third one is probably the right size and proportion.

Any recommendations on a saw blade that won't chip veneered plywood on a crosscut? I'm using a 60 tooth fine blade (see pic) right now. I've tried the tape trick but that didn't work. I'm thinking about stepping up to an 80 tooth.

Make sure your blade only sticks out like a tooth above / below the ply.

I'll try that when the power comes back on. I think the lowest I went was 1/2" over the ply.

    Nice job.
I'd change up the lumbar area.

Hey all. I just found the thread. Glad to see other woodworkers here.

Currently working on a rocking chair

I try to do everything with hand tools only. Yeah things take a little longer, but the time in the shop is what im after, not the finished product.

Sure thing. They are almost done.

Thanks. How so? With a curve on the back support?

    Yea.
I've sat in one with a good lumbar curve and was as comfy as a Lazyboy.
