KO2s or different tire?

I am purchasing tires by the end of the day and wanted to know others quick opinion. I am getting 265/70/17 in one of the following tires:

BFG KO2 Load C
Cooper Discover ATP
Toyo Open Country A/T II

I love the look of the K02's and that is what I am leaning towards, but I keep coming back to how much I drive. I currently average around 25,000 miles a year with the Tacoma, mostly highway for work. Should I go with the K02s or try another tire that might last longer?

Ko2s, I got them and I drive a lot a lot. I got a 2015 and sitting at 52-53k miles already. I got about 30k miles on my KO2 now and they still look almost new.

Tire pressure is everything along with a good alignment.

 

If your strictly street driving the ko2 isn't the best choice of the bunch. It's a great running and great looking tire, you'll probably get ~2 years from a set properly rotated.
The coopers or toyo tires will last longer, but personally I'd go ko2 and sacrifice the tread wear for the added looks and off road performance.

 

A pavement queen get some highway tires.

 

I'm in your boat. Last year I drove about 22k miles on my 15 DCSB. I decided to go with the Cooper AT3's. I wanted something more aggressive, but didn't want a mud tire. In the winter I can't call work and say I can't make it so I wanted something that can go anywhere, but still be good on the highway. The AT3's have a 55000 tread warranty and have great reviews.

I know you said you wanted the ATPs but may want to look at the AT3s too

 

I've got KO2's on my taco 4x4, and love them. surprisingly good on the highway, wet or dry, and way more than adequate for the sorts of offroading I do. I've laid down about 9000 miles on them so far, maybe 500 miles on dirt/gravel roads... the unused spare bought at the same time has 15/32nds tread, the front and rear both have 12/32nds, using my dial caliber as a depth gauge... mine are the LT265/70-R16 load range "D", I keep them between 32 and 39 PSI depending on my mood and road conditions.

yeah, if you hardly never go off road, highway tires are just fine, and will wear longer on the pavement.

I just put some Falken Wildpeak AT3/W 265/70r17s (e load) on my truck. They have more bite than I expected, but are super quiet on pavement, especially considering how large the lugs are. I was going back and forth on them and some KO2s. The Falkens are considerably less expensive, which was actually a concern. If I've learned anything in life it's that you don't skimp on tires. However the Falkens come with a 55k factory warranty vs the KO2's 0 mile. Might be worth considering. I've been really happy with them on road and mild off-road.

I would probably go with the KO2s otherwise.

 

These are OE SR5 tires lol. Good pavement performance tho, allowing Car & Driver to clock a 6.9 sec 0-60 mph time with a DCLB.

 

Yup. Dude needs a highway tire; buys a heavy ass offroad tire because it looks COOL.

 

Got to love the guys that just want to hate. Sorry to admit it but looks do matter in my decision. I will also say I want an AT tire because we do have a cabin/lake house with a gravel driveway that gives me problems when pulling my boat. The factory Bridgestone Duelers have been a good "highway tire" but are not exactly what I am looking for.

Kumho Road Venture AT51 - P rated. Light, better than average looks, good on road and good enough off. Oh, and 50k Mike warranty.

 

There is an old adage around here, 'it's all about smiles per gallon not miles per gallon'. Guaranteed those are all quality tires. Seriously man, just get the ones you like. You choices are by no means outrageous.

Do so If only because it is better to regret something you have done rather than regret something you haven't done.

There isn't anyone on here that doesn't want their truck to look a certain way, whether they've obtained the look or not. I consider myself more function than fashion type of person, but I don't want my truck to look like garbage either. It's your wallet, not theirs. If you realize that you may spend more in gas and that cost is negligible for you, then it's no one else's concern. So don't feel bad if what you want doesn't fit in their budget. Not to mention, you may find yourself off-road more often when you have a capable set of tires. I'm sure any of the tires you're considering will do just fine for what you want. I was being serious about then OEM tires, I put 60k on them before I replaced them with hankook atm's. The hankook tires look good and work well to, I use them for winter tires now that I run my mxt's in the summer. The ko2's are just priced way outside the ridiculous for that size tire.
