Cheap little bed build

hey guys I'm new here .. so I bought this low mile super ragged out 81 hilux locally with no bed and it had a lot of little issues one of which was no bed.. Bought a little steel from a supplier that was 2"x3" with a good thick wall from there scrap bin to the tune of 68$.. I do own a welder and made due with a Bosch chop saw and bought a new blade from home deeps . What do I have to lose.

I did treat the frame and get the are prepared. I ditched the spare winch and the old leaking tank

I needed to make mounts to make it so the rear tires clear the bed during articulation

I used my frame rack at work for a welding table... I also used old college
Bed frames courtesy of a maintenance friend from a local college...that I used for the cross beams

 

Next was the painting I used ppg epoxy primer black paint and ppg clear

 

Do you already have this bed completed and are just posting your updates? Those are my favorite types of builds because I get to see it all at once. Like binge watching a TV show.

 

A little wood from home deeps 2 12" board and 2 10" pressure treated boards worked perfectly with no table saw

I don't count the tank as I needed one anyway .

Found some cheap leds on EBay 20$

 

My next project for the truck is the rear bumper ... It's a Jeep Wrangler front bumper with winch mount .. I just got some more steel to make a bracket (more like a trailer hitch).. my buddy Robert is just holding it up for the picture.. I still have to finish up on this part .. after the bumper I see a dual battery setup and winch in the near future . Then it's time to beef these axles up.

 

I'd be interested to see how that bumper turns out. Personally I'd take off the tubing and the edges of the bumper so it's flush with the bed.
