In search of what was causing my taco windows fail to work for roughly 1 min after startup, I determined the relay was bad. Unfortunately in solving that issue, I found a much bigger one.

When removing the relay we found a ton of what looks like silicone all over the Junction block/fuse block. We pulled the entire block out to take a look and below is what we found.
    WTF!!

I assume the previous owner must have had a leak of some sort (more than likely through the windshield as it has been replaced) and instead of fixing it he just sealed the shit out of the junction box to try to keep water from getting in.

I have not had issues other than the windows and the relay has fixed that but what worries me is that water has likely gotten into the fuse block and who knows what else. I had the dealership look the vehicle over before I purchased it and they said no signs of flood/water damage including under the dash/seats, carpet etc.

Off to search for a used block I can replace it with. Unfortunately I can't post in the For sale or ISO forum yet as I am too new here. Any other recommendations other than salvage yards etc?

In the meantime, what else should I be worried about if there was in fact a windshield leak? IMG_1872.jpg

Honestly didn't start this post so I can buy or find someone to sell one to me. (Although I wouldn't complain if they did). I started this post to find out what else I should be worried about or looking for if the windshield was leaking (which is just my hunch at this point).

I then tried to post an ISO but could not so I came back and edited this post to find out were to find a block other than a junk yard. According to my local Toyota dealership they do not sell just the block, they sell it together with the cowl wire harness only for a total price tag of $2700!

They couldn't find a part number for the block only so I l am hoping to find out if there are other options to get the block only (new/refurb) other than salvage yards.

Pull up the carpet. You can tell if you have had a leak. As far as the silicone shit job who knows..

But like I said I have one. Near brand new. Came out of an 04, so I'd need a p/n if your were so inclined.

    OME and worth every penny.
Keep in mind water can travel a ways before finding a drain. If you put your location in your profile someone in your area may be able to chime in that might have ran into a problem (leaves getting stuck) or where's best to start looking.

    PM sent.

I did check under the carpet before I purchased and everything looks original/clean. I also had a local shop also check the windshield today to make sure it is sealed up nice and tight and it appears to be. Not sure why else they would have coated the box but it is what it is so now I am just going to replace it as it has some corrosion.

I found one on a used parts website...jumped the gun asking where to find them. Sorry about that.

Liscense2Ill, thanks for the response, I am interested and will be in touch.

If there is anything else I need to be concerned about or check out if there was a leak that went behind the dash, let me know.

Are you saying that after 1 minute the windows in your truck stop working?

no they wouldnt work for the first minute (when started cold) but start working within a minute. Once they start working they do not stop working until the truck has been off for a few hours

Can anyone confirm the part number for the 01-04 3.4 with Daytime running lights. I am finding some conflicting info that the part number for the block is different if the truck has DRLs?

I really don't want DRLs so will one of the blocks out of a truck without DRLs work/cause any problems?

I know 02 double cabs WITHOUT DRLs had part number 82730-04022. but don't know if that will work on a truck WITH DRLs
