Alright guys been trolling here awhile but this is my first post because this is driving me crazy. I have new carpet ready to go in the truck so I gotta get this figured out or im riding with just a driver seat for awhile :hattip: And alot of the answers i've read always mention the a/c drain, no its definitely not that.

Leaks water on the passenger side up behind dash, i can clearly watch it coming in in the far top corner, right above the blower motor but all the way at the top (using a mirror and flashlight)

Ive removed the fender and sealed everything I could tell might need sealing per the TSB, the windshield was JUST replaced last week (it was leaking before and after so thats not it)

My last thought would be its coming in from the floor of the main cowl, but on the passenger side of this truck it is a solid piece all the way across, covering everything above the passenger side. Its not like alot of the tacomas i see which its all exposed with the raised area around the cabin filter. so if I wanted to seal something in the floor of it, i have no idea how i would gain access, unless i cut a huge hunk out and had it welded back in or something crazy. Has anyone else dealt with this where it ended up coming from inside the cowl, and if so how did you get up under there to seal it? Where the water is coming in really makes me think thats where it is, but if anyone else has any specific suggestions, or pictures of where they sealed theres to get it straight anything would be helpful. Its a widely talked about topic but hardly anyone following up saying they got it fixed and how. I really would hate to have to pull the dash just to get this cleared up.

    Thanks alot guys :sadviolin:

Pretty sure the leak comes from the cowl seam area underneath the windshield wiper mounts- where the water drains through when it comes off the windshield if I remember correctly. You need to take off the windshield wipers, pull the arms, then spray the sealant recommended in the TSB with the optional attachable hose down in there to seal up the seam against the cab. Sorry if my descriptions aren't clear- let us know if this works for you.

I have a leak but have yet to pull apart everything and look for the source. Good luck with it.

I will try that. It has been awful having wet carpet for so long. Glad to see I am not the only one having this issue.

Are you referring to spraying sealant through the wiper motor opening if I was to remove the motor all together? That's the only way I can vision getting the sealant where I would think it needs to be

Not sure if been mentioned, but there is a large rubber grommet on the firewall, right where you describe the source of the leak. If the grommet has popped out, is improperly installed, or old/has holes/whatever, you will get a floorboard leak. Ask me how I know.

    Check that.

Ok newbie on board here. I am having the same leak problems. can you please clarify for me what this means: "the sealant recommended in the TSB"?
I have no idea what sealant is being referred to or what a TSB is.
    thanks

I recently had this problem and followed tsb with recommended equipment and it has fixed my leak. I removed wiper linkage and wiper motor. I also removed right front fender. There is a access hole there too. Sprayed sealant in every direction and a ton of it lol. You could also use flex seal but I think the extension is key to getting to all areas.

Well i'm gonna take a chance/shot at the cheap stuff. That leak chek from Kent is $42 a can so I picked up this http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay...gId=10051&cmRelshp=req&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1

I mainly grabbed this because I couldnt find the flex seal in the store even though they showed a ton in stock, and the reviews for that was better. Im that guy who will leave when they cant find something in store vs asking for it :notsure:

Im gonna try to do it tomorrow if I can and see what becomes of it. No extension on this tip but I may swap the tip with something with a extension nozzle if it will work, ill update if any progress is made. If its a fail too then i'll order the real stuff I suppose.

    http://www.lawsonproducts.com/Kent/Aerosol-Extension-Wand-Kit/KA14725.lp#

That is a very interesting looking attachment, i wonder if I could find something like that that would work with my cheap stuff locally instead of ordering

Wellllllll I got the wiper motor out and took a good of look as i could around at everything and with no extension or SOMETHING theres no hope for getting to it. I really am contemplating making 100% sure its coming from inside the cowl and cutting a spot out near the air intake area and spot welding/seam sealing it back in place. That sounds better than pulling the dash to me.

Hey toyomonkey did you purchase the Kent leak chek and the extension? How much were the products and where did you buy from? I have checked out Lawson but it doesn't show prices and it look like they may not sell to retail customers.

I purchased from lawson. I set it up on their web page like I had a business and ordered through them. I want to say it was around 40 bucks but I figured that was better than water getting in my cab and stinking the inside up. They mailed it to me without even being payed for. Later they sent a bill in the mail and I made payment over the phone. I really think its the same as flex seal you can buy at lowes. The key is having the long spray tubes to get back into the hard to reach spaces.

did you use the 12" extension tube or the longer flexible hose option they offer? I noticed it looks like one 12" plastic extension comes with the leak check product. Is the one plastic extension tube sufficient?

I used the 12 inch extensions. You can bend them while spraying to get in hard to reach spaces.

Guys I stumbled upon a really good alternative that is way cheaper, I ordered it today. Ive got the fender back off and wiper motor out, and a few other things im going to try when this sealant gets here. Ill do a write up if i'm able to 100% fix my leak just so theres pictures to show where I sealed and such.
