Getting ready to put my first coat of wax on my 2017 Limited Tacoma and am wondering if it okay to wax the black vinyl pieces located between the driver's and passenger doors on each side? These are the pieces that fit between the two door's window glass, above the handles. Thanks!

sure why not! It just won't really benefit the vinyl any and if you happen to muck it up--most people remove theirs anyways :). I leave mine on because i use that to close my door to prevent from surface scratches down the road. You can put wax on just about anything---its not like the old turtle wax that used to stain stuff white like the old days. Hell you can even put wax/sealant on your glass and it works like rain-x.

Depends on the wax. I used Meguire's Ultimate Liquid Wax https://www.walmart.com/ip/Meguiar-s-Ultimate-Liquid-Wax/16550272 and did two coats on the whole truck when I first bought my truck about 3 weeks ago. I waxed those pieces you're describing and have one of the flat black hood decals and waxed that too. Just don't let it dry and harden and it will buff right off.

I wax mine to keep them looking new it doesn't hurt the vinyl it freshens and protects it . The wax I use is canuba and not abrasive from detail supply store

Don't use an abrasive wax and you'll be fine. I've used Killerwaxx Love Potion (non abrasive) on a partial wrap before and it worked well.

Wax won't last a month in AZ. You should look into some type of sealant. Polymer net shield, chemical guys v7, opti seal are a few I really like. Wax is tedious and doesn't last long.

I wouldn't. Armour All or other UV blocking product. If you have to strip the wax, the stripping product could have a detrimental effect on the vinyl.

I wouldn't armor all anything! It dries stuff out. A good citrus wash like the ones chemical guys makes will strip any type of protectant off and not harm trim or vinyl.

Hydro2 is the way to go, lasts long and is stupid easy to put on. However you do need to apply it without the sun beating on the vehicle and a pressure washer or a good spray hose is a must. Work in small sections at a time, you don't want to leave it on the vehicle long.

still shouldn't put wax on non-painted plastic though. like for instance the black fenders on TRD ORs

Menzerna powerlock is great too. I've been interested in polymer net shield; how do you like it?

I like it a lot, depending on temperature and humidity, it can be sorta a pain to use sometimes though. Power lock is great stuff. Guess I've gotten lazy and like the stuff I can get the whole vehicle done in <5 minutes though lately lol.
