There isn't really any sound difference until well past 3000 RPM's. The only time I hit that is on highway on-ramps... and even then it's pretty muffled.

Thanks for the intel bro, sounds like at least 7 and at best 12. I'll say 12 so I can claim 290 HP instead of 300. Every pony counts, 290 is still better than 278! Not sure if I'll do the URD y pipe.

    in order according to me:
    - looks cool (not why i bought it)
    - a bit more sound (this is why i got it, to help me hear shift points better)
    - a slight improvement on low end throttle response, it's definitely there but not by much
    - yeah, looks cool (still not why i bought it)

    YMMV

The TRD PAI with an oiled filter, installed by the dealer, is warranty covered. But, I was told any other oiled filter is not covered. An aftermarket must be dry. What have you guys heard?

the kit comes with the oiled filter but you can always ask your parts people to sub a dry filter if you prefer.

i like it and would do again. here's my mini review:
    - no obvious power change
    - a bit more sound but not much (this is why i got it, to help guide my shifting in my MT... honestly i could still use a bit more sound)
    - a bit of improved throttle response, not much but it's there
    - looks great
    - a true cold air solution unlike most of the CAI's that pull air from the bay... this has a single feed from outside the bay so no hot air is pulled.

that's the reality. I'd still buy it again for the extra sound and throttle response change, however subtle.

with the urd pipe you run the risk of not passing emissions without defoulers and even then its not a gurantee

My thoughts are the same as @St.Germain however part of the reason I bought it was how cool it looked and it complemented my TRD Pro under the hood just perfectly.

The PTR03-35160 kit DOES include the filter. I went the kit route and the filter was included. Nothing else needed.

I would buy this again for sure. Only other intake I would think of buying other than the TRD version is the AFE version with the scoop.

I have been thinking of getting this for my Pro but I got the factory reusable air filter when I bought so I would have to sell that.

I wonder if you just changed out the air filter if it would have the same effect
