Same Website listed above has the Blower motor assembly for the 4runner for $42...Aftermarket.... VERY Cheap... Cheaper than folks are paying to replace the Cabin filter at the Stearlership in vane!

By the Way, this is a common thing... The 2004 4runner is doing the exact same thing. I may replace the blower assembly myself and solve the problem easily...I hope!
So, if you are out of warranty, just replace the blower assembly yourself. Save a ton of headache maybe?

I was having the famous "chirping cricket" noise from my blower. Mostly on low and fairly steady. I took it to the dealer and they installed a new blower. I was told it has been improved. Very silent now.

Add- I had this problem for the past 10k or so. I was driving by the dealer and stopped in unannounced. They had a new blower installed and I was out of there in 20 min. Great service at my Toyota dealer!

Does anyone have the part number for the Tacoma blower motor and where to buy one? I've tried the fix described in this thread and the ticking is not constant anymore, but it comes and goes and the pitch is higher than it was before I messed with it.

sometimes when you slide the filter out whatever is on top of it will fall into the blower motor.

So, reviving an old thread I know... but this has been bugging me so much lately I can't stand it. Probably been doing it the last 17k or so (only about 6 months lol). I took it to the dealer around 35.5k miles to get some random stuff taken care of. Well, they said a 'leaf' got into mine. It did seem a bit quieter when I first left... but quickly returned before I even finished getting home. I took the filter out (they tried to push me to pay for theirs)... the guy put it back in without even bothering to shake a few leaves off... what kind of asshat does that. Anyway, changed it out, felt around for leaves ect... nothing in there. Well, today after doing spark plugs and oil... figured on to the next thing. I took it apart, and tried to follow the guide from what was previously posted about adjusting the two screws for the shaft alignment. I could get it to speed up/down... but not improve the clicking. I'll be calling the dealer again tomorrow.

Figured some videos might help out others diving into this.

Same here. I shook out all of the leaves and it got quieter.
So mine only chirps on the first and second fan speed settings, but if I put it on the third and fourth settings, the noise stops...
Does anybody else have this problem?
I'm going to try to blow it out with my air compressor and then if that doesn't help I'm going to try to adjust it.

Mine 'seems to go away' on the higher settings, but if I get down close to it and really strain to listen it's still there... just the airflow overpowers the clicking noise. The adjustment has worked for some, hopefully it'll work for you

I googled "noisy fan Tacoma" and found this great site, so I joined!!! Anyway, I just followed the instructions for fixing the clicking noise by adjusting the screws on the bottom mounting plate. What I found was that those screws have been factory torqued and locktited in place. They aren't meant to be used as adjustment screws, but can get rid of the noise if you're lucky. What I found when I removed the bottom plate on the shaft was a bunch of rusty looking dust that used to be the brushes. They have seated on to the commutator and because the bottom bushing is worn, the edges of the bushings go click, click, click. I thought about new brushes, shine the commutator and replace the bushing, but for $50.00, a new fan assembly sounds like the way to go...:)

Now, on to the suspension and horsepower section...:D
