How did you mount your Hi-Lift jack?

If you have a Hi-Lift jack, please post some info on how you've got it mounted. The kit/brackets used, and a photo would be great.

My 60" X-treme arrived a few days ago and I'm trying to figure out the most convenient way to secure this on the truck. Attaching it to one of the bed rails would probably be my first choice, but it's a HEAVY tool, and the mounts would need to be very solid.

I know lots of people carry these on the outside of the truck (mounted to the roof rack, bumper, hood, etc.), but I'm a bit concerned about the elements (rain, sand, dust, snow) damaging the jack over time. And that's a good way to get it stolen, too.

So... ideas?

Mine rides in the toolbox on my crawler and on the cross bars in the bed on my Tacoma. The rest of the time it is leaned up in the garage.

 

Your winning selection is basically what I am (very slowly) fabbing up for mine

So far I'm in it for $8 for the steel flat stock, we'll see how sturdy it is mounted on the front rail but if it sucks I'll be going with your choice too.

 

I have a pair of the Armor Tech brackets for my Hi-Lift. They do the job, fit fine, no complaints here. They are not cheap but a guy's gotta make a living and they were bolt-on and be done.

Ended up making custom brackets from 1/8x3"x2' steel:







Very sturdy, but the jack sits a little higher than I'd like, so I'm going to drill some new holes in the brackets to drop it down by about an inch; this will give me plenty of room to use OEM bed-rail cleats. Will also paint them black and use nuts that can be hand-tightened. And need to make another (simpler) bracket for the jack's base.

I used 4x innovations mounts. But to do it again, I'd have made my own. Definitely not worth $70.

I made these brackets as well as shovel and axe mounts and am very pleased with them. Pretty easy and quick and very solid once mounted. Any of the mounts you might purchase are going to work well, just double check, some require drilling rather then just using the t-nut track.

 

mounted my 60 inch High Lift today DIY style. Picked up everything from the hardware store for under $20

I used @RelentlessFab hi-lift mounts to hold a 60" hi-lift with a daystar handle isolator and a @Shmellmopwho slider adapter (cut to 55" to fit under my low-profile tonneau cover) and dual quick-fist mounts to mount a 40" shovel and 26" axe. I also mounted a hi-lift base to the front bed rail with 1/2" carriage bolts. I painted the tools to match my blazing blue pearl truck because I'm a crazy person.. I traded in a Jeep for my new Taco and asked the dealer to take the Hi-Lift jack off of the Jeep (which was mounted on a tailgate bracket and he gave me my Hi-Lift along with the bracket. At first I thought that I wouldn't have a use for the bracket but it mounted perfectly on the rail system in the bed of my truck. I only had to spend money on the slotted t nuts and the bolts to mount my jack. Here are some pics....

Does anyone ever use these jacks or are they just for looks? I don't think I've ever seen a pic of anyone using one or one with even a tiny scratch. But I guess it's pretty hard to get stuck in a mall parking lot.

 

I use the relentless fab bed bars. Keeps the jack out of the way of putting things in the bed and allows easy access to it. Plus everyone can see it making sure they know i'm super serious offroader.....

 

Thanks for the post...I like that particular mount because it takes up much less space. I'll keep this in mind and will probably order a set later.

 

Used the universal round bar mounts from
4wheelparts then mounted to my rack above rotopaxk below tent.

 

I've used mine at least a dozen times in the year since I've gotten it. Swapping suspension parts, installing stuff, flat tires on the trail, high centred in a creek, etc. Love the thing.
