So on my 12 Tacoma, I'm having problems with the volume button there's something behind it or something making it get stuck down, only turning the volume up. Of course I've pick and pride at it a little but stopped my self when I realized I really didn't know what I was doing when it comes to this how do I get behind it to clean it out. Already tried tooth pick trying to clean it out and no good pictures down below of the steering wheel that of course everyone is familiar with. I've looked on here couldn't find anything about this. Thanks guys.

I've got the same issue. I'm sure someone has been through this.

Take the steering controls off, after that dissasemble of the controls themselves is super easy. And then see what's messing up the button. There is a piece of clear silicone type material behind the buttons that then sits on top of a circuit board.

There's no other way to get behind the button.

To remove the controls, disconnect the battery first. There are 2 little plastic covers on either side of steering wheel. One of them sits around the cruise control stalk. Behind that is a t25 torx on either side. Unbolt it. You can now pull the airbag off. Be gentle, and set it on top of the steering wheel. Next unscrew the 4 Phillips bolts holding the controls on and unplug the controls harness as well as the ground that goes to the horn.

Dissasemble of the controls themselves is just a few screws on either backside. And then they come apart.

Do you the steering wheel controls pop out kind of like the climate control ones do? I see what your saying just not wanting to screw it up especially messing with an air bag.

I think there's something that got in behind the volume button and I did the the little black boxes on each side of the steering wheel I popped then off and was looking I don't know what got behind there and I do use it a lot, honestly never even use the HU.
