They are both lame! You can do all the trails in Redbird in less than 2 hours. Unless you want to climb the same hill over and over, play in a mud hole, or spend all day in the few small obstacles. It's a waste of time if you have a long drive to get there. But, if you live really close to it, might as well do it. There is hardly anyone at the gate, so it would be free. Redbird also has NO camping.
Interlake is bigger, but even more lame.
closest to Indy would be Badlands in attica or Haspin acres to the east. Just a warning though, you can drink alcohol on the trails at Haspin, which many are very proud of.
Black Mountain would be the closest/best for a weekend trip

    Hey Hoosiers,

Anyone from NWI/Southeast Chicagoland? Looking for a reputable place to do some work on my 2017 for me. Tint, possible lift, some other mods that I am not totally sure I want to tackle myself. Found some in Chicago proper, but would like to avoid heading into the city for that if I can.

Could also be interested in a meetup depending on when/where.

Here is the thread on trading in my 2015: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2015-tacoma-sport-traded-in.496522/#post-15388958

Here is the thread on purchasing my 2017: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/swapped-2015-for-2017.496179/

    Thanks, all! Valparaiso.

I am just south of you in kouts. As long as I have some free time I would be willing to give you a hand if you try to tackle anything yourself. I had the wife's car tinted over at carteks in valpo a few years ago and it still looks great. I am probably going to be taking my truck there soon enough. Either way I would also be interested in a meet up if one gets put together. Have a good one.

Hey, thanks man. Actually I stopped into CarTek this morning just to check it out. $139, done while I wait, so I did it. Fantastic job with the match, made a huge difference inside and out!

Ripped off all four mudflaps. Scratches all down both sides 6112’s up front on 3rd notch 5100’s in back with Toytech 1” block Skids & sliders from SOS Concepts I got rid of the 1” block and put on Wheelers 1 1/2” progressive AAL. SPC UCA. Be sure your standing on the drivers side when reading the instructions! I swapped sides so many times that I can swap UCA’s in 15 minutes. I put in the 3/4” spacer to eliminate the Taco Lean, and just got my 4th alignment. Traded the OEM rims for 17” Sport rims and a bora bora 1” spacer. I got my Firestone 285/70/17 MT2’s. Pelfreybilt gas tank skid and hi-lift jack should be here Friday. Looking at bumpers, but I think they will wait for next year. So far I’m happy with my build. I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.
9 years later,,,,,,,, Hi everyone. I'm here in Kokomo.

I'm glad I scrolled farther down.

My 7 year old was bored with driving the trails at Haspin Acres and wanted to go back to Badlands because it was more challenging. I did teach him how to do donuts while we were there, and that was the funnest time he had driving out there. If you go to Haspin be sure to take food.

Thanks to the dude in a Cherokee from Ohio that pulled my dumbass out of that stanky mud hole.

I didn't even realize I had a reply I must have missed it from an eternity ago. I have never heard of black mountain im going to look it up. If I am traveling I would head over to goerge Washington national park there is a lot of trails up and down the mountain with a huge reservoir with free camping plenty of fishing. Then head north to big levels

    We're an anti-social bunch...

There's quite a few guys around NWI and Chicagoland but I'm sure most are like me and have weekends booked solid in the summer if they are lucky enough to have weekends off.

My peerunner doesn't do well wheeling in the snow.
I drive up around thxgiving and christmas but since I bought another car, I dont drive the truck up during snow.

I'd be down for something July 4th or so 2018 though.
