I am thinking about trying this from Asheville to Clarksdale, Mississippi. Anyone have any experience with the TAT?

I am in Greenville and I would be interested in also trying it.

Too poor to list anything interesting.
My buddy keeps asking me to do it with him. It's on my long to-do list.

I ran a few sections of it in Tennessee. It really isn't that challenging in a 4x4 truck however it is still pretty entertaining. The one difficulty is finding campsites.

Why is it difficult to find campsites?

I meant free campsites. If you wanted to pay and stay at a real campsite that was fairly easy. Sorry for the confusion.

I told my 11 year old son that we were going to do this this summer. I am working on opening up my calendar for 3-4 weeks and we'll go as far as we can over that time. The biggest bummer is that I REALLY want to do the western half lol. We'll spend some time doing the eastern part but I really get excited about everything after Arkansas... Anyway, we're doing it and I am selling the Tacoma for a 4Runner Off Road Premium because it makes more sense for this kind of trip. Anyone else ever entertained trading in their Tacoma?

BTW, got an insane deal on the 4Runner OffRoad Premium that cemented the deal for me. I really wanted a 4Runner TRD Pro (impossible to find a color I want combined with a decent price) but I might be able to build a knockoff TRD Pro for $40k. Sweet

Getting closer to a plan. We are going to start in Asheville (Hurricane) and go as far as we can in 3 weeks. With stops for interesting stuff (blues museum in Oxford, MS) we ar not go to do it like the Cannonball Run. My guess is we get to Colorado and will have to turn around right when it gets awesome lol...

The TAT is on my bucket list. There was a guy who posted a trip report of running it East to West in his Tacoma awhile back while PCSing in the Marines.

There's something about guys doing this in landrovers so, a taco should not be wide at all for this route.
