As you may know we here in the continental US will be treated to a spectacular total solar eclipse this August 21st as it arcs across the country.

My brother and I will be hitting the road north in my 2016 Sport to be somewhere in the Ochoco National Forest, OR for the event. We've seen a couple partial eclipses in our 50+ years on the planet but never experienced a total solar eclipse and are really looking forward to it. That and of course any six day camping/hotel road trip with my brother is a blast.

Anyone else have plans to be in the Path of Totality, or at least making plans for the eclipse somehow? Where will you be?

I didn't plan on this until I read this article, thanks for posting because now I'll be heading up earlier and extending my road trip. Going to be at the Crater Lake Ride the Rim event on 9th of September. Solar Eclipse and riding around a Volcano sounds damn fun to me.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm in Charlotte, NC, so I am hoping the skies are clear.

I'm planning on going too. I'll be either in the area north of Boise ID or on the eastern side of the state Idaho. Haven't decided yet and I'll be watching the weather reports. Since that time of the year is the busiest for my company even getting one day off is going to be a challenge. So, for me it's going be a drive up and back on the same day. :burnrubber: A few years back I went to the annular eclipse in southern Utah. After the event it was bumper to bumper traffic all the way home. I'm expecting this one to be worse.

Sounds like good plans, guys. Enjoy what is an infrequent event! Get in the Shadow if you can.

For what it's worth, I don't like crowds either.

It's really a neat thing to see. Get a couple welding helmets, kick back and enjoy!
